I hate inaccurate recipes, no matter what the inaccuracy. It makes me think the author didn't cook that recipe that often.

Seriously? If I were to respond to this gag item with seriousness, I'd point out that the very popular iPhone does not fit in that pocket well. That if women's clothing provided real pockets, and not either a)cut down versions, or b) fake pockets, this would never have been thought of. Lastly, if you carry anything substantial, like a phone, in that pocket you will have to dig it out, and it will ruin the lines of your clothing. Nothing says cool, like having mysterious lumps under your armpits.

Thank you, E.OLIVER, that makes much more sense to me.

They'd get lost in my tabs. I start the day with several dozen tabs open, and wade through them as I have time.

Nice idea with the shrink tubing. I'd not thought of that. I even have some sitting around.

With as many folks that hate the tangle issue, why haven't any headphones/earbuds makers addressed it? I'd pay extra for a set that didn't tangle.

What's up with Castoreum? It's used as a vanilla flavoring, often under the title of "natural flavoring". It comes from the anal sacs of the beaver. It's approved for food use in the USA.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castoreum Here's the wiki link, in case you think I'm making this up.

I'd love to know more about this, so I can avoid it.

This is perfect. I love my slow cooker, and I cook from scratch.

I keep all my recipes in Evernote. I can clip recipes I see online, modify them, and put in my own. Plus it's easy to email the recipe out, no copy and paste. I can also share my recipes with my husband. I can also check my recipes out on my laptop, a tablet, and an iphone. This has come in handy when shopping or sharing.

I used to keep them all on index cards, but I just can't do all that with paper anymore.

I love how someone nose dived this comment thread into how folks on food stamps don't dress like they think poor people should, and don't buy what they think they should buy.

There are more than enough poor folks that can't get food stamps, or those of us on the slippery edge of poorer middle class. We have to think about every cash dollar we spend. I gave up on some of the higher end places because I simply can't buy enough groceries if I shop there, even if the food quality, and local farmer access, is better.

It does come off as elitest to not take into account that these things cost more, and not all of us are able to budget more.

That said, I do think you can do better by picking a middle of the road grocery store, with an eye on their produce and meat department. I'm a big fan of scratch cooking, and won't shop at places like Winco and Walmart because the produce and meat are not of the quality I want. It does cost me a bit more to be careful like this, but not enough to blow my whole budget. I find I make up some of that cost, by cooking almost all of our meals at home. This again is a tradeoff, because I don't have kids, and don't work full time. I can do it whereas a mother with a full time job might need to rely on a boxed mix because she's justifiably damned tired from all that entails. I would never judge her, because I am not walking in her shoes.

I tried that in one of my apartments. It didn't work too well because my knives are too handle heavy for it. They would stick mostly, but occasionally would fall off. Falling knives are not happy. Now I keep them up behind the sink on the wall. Works much better.

I keep a plain sheet of paper on the fridge. As I use things up, I just jot down what it was on the list. I've even got the husband writing things he needs on the list. I just take it with me when I go shopping.

We've never had a point person. In almost all restaurants these days they just split the bill up easily, and happily. That way we all pay our own with our debit cards.

I cooked in an Italian/French fusion restaurant that had butcher block counters that were decades old. They were certainly not maintained on a bi-annual basis. We cut directly on them regularly too. It was pretty much the worst care you could give. Yet, they were amazing. They looked very cool, and homey. They were absolutely resistant to hot pans, knives, and whatever else we tossed at them. We scrubbed them down with bleach at the end of every night, and they just kept on. I think the head chef told me they tried to get the counters done every five years or so.

I have been planning on putting butcher block counters in my kitchen because of my experiences with that restaurant kitchen.

Very nice. We just got rid of the dining room table because it didn't fit, and we never used it. Something like this would be better for those super rare times we want it.
