Beautiful home tour. So romantic that you and your husband spent three months together working on the creative birds art installation piece. The framed fire extinguisher made me smile! Thank you very much for sharing your home with us.

Christine, you are awesome. Toronto's real estate market as well as rent is brutal. Congratulations for working so hard and manifesting your vision. I hope you are very proud of yourself and take time to celebrate what you've created and are creating. :)

And thank you for the reminder to invest in quality pieces once a year... I really needed to read that today.

Would love to see a full tour of your home. Love the bathroom and painting above the bathtub.

We just moved across the country, from Ontario to Alberta. We only lived in our previous home for just over a year, devoted copious amounts of our time, energy and money to improving the inside and outside of the home only to pick up and move. (We didn't know we would be relocating so soon.)

Our new home, which is old, also requires a ton of work-both indoors and outdoors as the previous home owner couldn't be bothered to maintain it properly. I can definitely say that it is a frustrating experience living in a home that is nowhere close to being "done." After a massive deep-clean, we've started painting indoors and redoing the landscaping outdoors--there's so much work remaining. Our friends and family tell us to kick back, take it easy and go out and have fun-to just forget about the house. Although this sage advice sounds great, it's difficult to follow since we know we'll be coming home to a home that is aggravating to live in until the intense colours are painted over and repairs are done.

I know we will be at peace once all our walls have been painted, our curtains hung up, more plants brought into this space since we had to give most of our plants away prior to moving, and once everything is in its own place.

Love and agree with your plant sanctuary philosophy. I'm trying to create the same thing in our home.

Great idea for storing pot lids! Best of luck. :)

I stopped using an enclosed litter box over a year ago. We use a huge plastic container as our litter box (from Ikea, the sides are low making it easily accessible for our cats). We clean our litter box three to four times daily.

To everyone considering using an enclosed litter box: sure it looks great but you will not be able to view your cat if they are straining while using their litter box. Thus it may take you longer to realize if your cat is having urinary issues or problems with their bowel movements. Prevention is always key when it comes to pet health--acting quickly can spare a lot of heartbreak down the road. I used to work at a vet clinic for seven years.

Additionally, I really hope this doesn't happen to your cats but I've had experience with this too, if you have cats that do not get along and or have recently introduced a new cat to your already existing cat family, an enclosed litter box prevents visibility for the cat using the box. The new cat (or bullied cat) may be more reluctant to use the box as frequently as they'd like since there is only one entrance/exit and sometimes the other cat(s) is/are out there waiting to pounce on them.
