Love the sense of whimsy and how you've embraced colour and pattern--there's so much to look at, but it's still harmonious. And I love that you've opted for faux taxidermy instead of the real thing.

I like the difference. It looks much more crisp now. But I'm not getting how the Velcro was easier to apply than paint. And what material did she velcro on the toe kicks?

Maybe a soft grey?

You can almost feel the cross breeze going through the house--it seems so open and light. I'm not sure that I could sleep without curtains, but perhaps the garden provides relief from streetlights? (It would be lovely to not need curtains!) Love the soothing colours throughout. The only thing killing the peaceful vibe for me here is the fur pillow on the couch.

P.S. I can't seem to find the Bowie painting done by your late father. Is it not in any of the shots? Love that little blue op art piece by him though, and also love Hare Trigger, even though it has an ominous quality...

There are so many things about this house that I love. It has a timeless, magical quality--both indoors and outdoors. I imagine it must feel like you're stepping into another world the minute you enter the yard. I love your menagerie, and as a fellow bunny caregiver, I love that you have bunnies! (Indeed, the poop scooping of their litter boxes is a chore, but the buns are so worth it.) Also love all your little faux animal bits and bobs (I hate taxidermy but love animal art).

Which painting? The photo that heads this article is from an apartment tour, and the image hanging above the table is a distressed mirror that's reflecting the shelving across the room.

Design Tips for Introverts & Extroverts (and How to Tell Which One You Are)

Elissa - You may want to check out The Introvert Advantage. The author is an introvert married to an extrovert. Not a book about design, but a book about being an introvert in an often overstimulating world. It's a great and enlightening read. :)

Oh, and I love that you have a rabbit lamp from a children's store in your bedroom. :)

Love the dining room chairs and so many of your other cool, colourful, and fun touches! Can I ask, though, why you decided to leave that wall in your living room completely blank? Since your couch faces it, I figured you'd want a piece of art there (I'm assuming you don't have a television). Just curious!

Oh... I've never tried to reupholster any chairs, but I can totally relate to a project gone wrong, so I feel your pain. Hope you find a way to salvage what you've started, and thanks for sharing the link!

If you want to ease into it, paint the colour on an 18x24 canvas board (or something similarly big) and put it up against the wall for a few days--taking note of how the colour changes under different lighting conditions. This should give you a better idea of whether you'll like the colour on a whole wall. And if you decide it's too much for a whole wall, you can always use it as an accent colour. Who cares what you told people on Instagram? :)

That one kills me too. That is a totally NO. It's called personal hygiene, not public hygiene. Nobody should be clipping their nails or flossing their teeth on the subway--there are far too many projectiles!

The best (read: most horrific) personal-hygiene-on-a-bus story I ever heard came from my mom--one of her coworkers said she caught a man clipping his TOENAILS on the bus. I. Can't. Even.

Thanks for weighing in George! We are still so narrow in our thinking of what's considered feminine and what's considered masculine. Can't believe someone called this "emasculating"--so men can't like white and gold? Pshaw. I think it's great that you both love your space, and I wish you best of luck with your new addition! :)) P.S. I've been contemplating that low bureau from IKEA for some time now--looks great in your space!

How gorgeous are those arched windows?? And I love the cassette art piece--is it made of actual cassettes or is it a photo collage?
