I was a city girl all my life. When my mom retired, she moved back to the tiny town where she was born. I moved in to help her, and ended up in rural WA. It's like doing time. I have an 11 year old daughter that isn't getting the benefits, options and opportunities of a city education. Everything you said about jobs in small towns is true. Our unemployment is still around 13%. In addition - starting a business myself is dubious. I the community is poor, it is unlikely that they will part with one of their two dollars so they can buy whatever handmade good I come up with. There is no romance in living in a small town.
