I used to wash cold all the time and still do. But I think it needs to be mentioned that underwear and socks needs to be washed in hot water to fully kill all bacteria. I learned this from a doctor. Underwear and socks needs to be washed separately from other clothes in order to potentially stop the spread of fecal matter to other clothing. I wish that bit of information was added in when I first started washing cold.

To wash vinyl curtains, I use half and half bleach and water combination in a bucket. I fold the curtains neatly and place in the bucket for a couple of hours. You much fold neatly because if you don't the curtains will come out wrinkled and crinkles everywhere.

@AlchemyToday

Thank you for your post! I'm pretty pissed off about placing an order with Brocade. I've been periodically checking and researching the web for some info. I'm wondering if some of the commenters are promise that "Brocade isn't closing" are just part of RH and BH press damage control. We tried to cancel our order but they refused stating all sales are final even after I replied that their website promised shipment within a certain timeframe. I'm most agitated about their billing procedures...what reputable company does that and why is it so darn fishy?

Although there wasn't much info about BH, I wish I did research on Restoration Hardware customer service. Boy, was the list long! I just went by appearances since it was such a high end store. That doesn't mean squat. I also hope ApartmentTherapy doesn't approve them. I'll be happy to show all my invoices and receipts to prove how shady they are.

I'm extremely worried about what is possibly going on with Brocade Home. I made an order 7/25 concerning bedding and pillows and I have yet to still receive my whole entire order. I have called several times to their customer service line and emailed once concerning my order. I first called because items were listing out of stock even though it was in stock when I made the order. I needed to adjust my order because many of the items were coordinating so if they didn't have a duvet cover, I didn't want to get the pillows. I had problems with this simple request until I talked to a supervisor to cancel certain items on my order. Then when our first 3 pillows finally shipped, we were charged the full amount instead of the additional 50% off sale price. When I called to get the price adjusted, I was told that we would get invoice would show full price and charge full price until we got to the actual correct price. So our order is originally $800, they would charge full price and stop at $400 at the 50% half off price. I thought it was a bit strange but because they are connected to Restoration Home I was convinced. But only after the supervisor promised she would explain their billing process via email so I have something in writing. This was 2 weeks ago and before the website was down.

With the current FAQ's on their new website concerning brocade home gift certificates, consumerist.com's entry on Restoration Home outsourcing their furniture line to China, I'm extremely worried. After talking to friends, they suggested they might even be preparing to file bankruptcy. Has anyone else had this problem? I've been reading about other complaints on orders and found out on June 18, 2008 Restoration Hardware was de-listed from the NASDAQ and ceased to be a publicly traded company. Although I'm dying to have our items, I'm calling my credit card company and cancel my order. I'd like to know if anyone else is having problems too?

UPDATE: I called this morning and they are not allowing any cancellations on any orders claiming all sales are final (even though the website said all items will be shipped out within 14 days). I called our credit card company to alert them of the store possibly closing and claiming bankruptcy and getting our charges fixed on the items that were sent out. I am disappointed and extremely irritated to say the least. Our credit card company will be denying all future charges and after we submit paperwork, will be following up with an investigation.

We have a similar set up except the space between the bed and wall is even thinner than pictured above. What we did was set up a lack shelf above the TV to hold our DVD and cable box. It's set up pretty high so when we walk by it isn't remotely close to our heads. If that didn't work out, plan B was to place a mirror strategically in order to divert the remote control ray to hit the cable box on our dresser. We got this idea from an episode of "Small Space, Big Style" on HGTV from another fellow New Yorker.

I've been looking for EXACTLY a hamper to put downstairs in the entryway to catch all the clothes my kids seem to throw off the minute they enter the house. I was almost going to buy a "hidden" hamper (looks like a cabinet or buffet) on homedecorators.com because I was tired of all their clothes littering the couches and living area. Our toddlers are the usual culprits and it seemed pointless to take them upstairs to change and leave the dirty clothes in the hamper and then later take it down to the basement to wash. It really saves on making trips up and down (although good exercise) and hopefully, cut down on the mountain of clothes.

I take a quick shower before I take a bath so when I do bathe...I don't feel like I'm bathing in my own filth.

I would not buy anything substantial from EQ3. We bought our sofa there 2 years ago since we love modern style but didn't have the obscene amount of money modern furnishings was asking at the time. We didn't want to do IKEA and EQ3 in Burbank seemed like a refreshing alternative. We splurged and bought a highest quality leather sofa they had. We were happy with our purchase until 6 mos. ago when the seat cushions started sagging. Sagging so badly that we could feel the metal framework and now we cannot even sit on the sofa for a long amount of time because our backs start to hurt. What a disappointment! We aren't very large individuals: asian couple together weighing about 250. We keep getting angry at ourselves and trying to figure out how to salvage our couch..but how would you know the foam cushion would deflate in 2 years. It was perfectly fine when we first bought it.

When my babies were newborns, I bathed them in the sink because they were small enough. As they got older, I took baths with them. (This was done usually right after I gave myself a shower first.) Taking baths together made sense in a lot of ways. They tend to be less slippery and potential dropping accidents less likey to occur since my whole body enveloped them, we all spent time together and had fun and all of us got our daily bath! My first born I had all the baby gadgets...the bathtub(s) were very uncomfortable and an extra item to clean. By the time, they were 8 mos and able to sit up, I would already transition them to the tub and not deal with buying more gear.

My toddlers would fill it up with anything they can get their hands on that doesn't belong to them...which occasionally means my makeup, toilet paper from the bathroom, or my panties (after raiding my drawers while I wasn't looking).

We have a small bathroom. Our landlord redid it and put tiles everywhere...floor to walls going into the shower except the ceiling. It sure does keep it easy and very clean. What I don't like...I can't add any storage to the wall since it has tiles. So make sure if you do it, to put in towel bars and toothbrush holders and stuff before you tile the wall. Bathroom is not our style but I worked with the tile and it's the neatest, cleanest looking rental bathroom we ever lived in.

Oops, I forgot to mention about the guard. My son just turned 2 and it seems to fit fine. He doesn't mind that it covers and I'm glad I have something there to hold it straight down so he doesn't squirt all over the place.

We love the Boon potty. I have 2 toddlers and the first taught herself to go on the big toilet. But she learned to hold herself up. My youngest has a tendency to fall in so we bought the Boon. We store some small books on the side (to occupy him if its taking too long and he can't sit still) and I love the toilet paper on the other side. It's so easy to clean that my 10 yr old does it often...dumps it in the regular toilet, rinses, squirts some dishwasher soap and swishes. It doesn't ever get that gross or dirty because we pour water in half of it. This dilutes the pee and also makes poo float so it's less likely to make skid marks. Our only bathroom is upstairs and very tiny so I leave the Boon dowstairs. When the lid is closed it just looks like a bench and not a toilet. Hides very well. My kids love it.

We got them for our kids for Christmas. They ARE so adorable!! But they aren't for playing. Since then, Foofa's flower came off and Muno split in the middle...LOL. But the box clearly says display only. Good thing we bought an extra set for just mom and dad. The packaging it comes in is SUPERB!! The detail is really great. Obviously, we are fans. The Brobee sweatshirt is a must...when my toddler gets sad, he turns the smile upside down on his sweatshirt so Brobee can be sad like him...LOL. Now only if they had the boombox and DJ Lance, everything would be perfect!
