Here's my concern: What in the world is wrong with helping out your friends? No matter how many children they have - would you go visit the new baby without a little gift - since you're talking about etiquette. We help people everyday that we may not know. We drop a donation in a box, we support charities - but if a friend asks for help outright, we judge them for it. Having morals doesn't equate judgment. My little one started walking during the winter as well and we were stuck inside some days (some weeks) and she with nothing but energy and a new skill. I felt the same way you describe. She had a walker which she cruised around the house in. Also I would give her laundry to "play" with. Washcloths and socks. I would put toys inside of tupperware and let her try to figure out how to get them open. Of course if she couldn't open it, she moved on after a while, but she would eventually come back to it. I was actually excited and anxious to put a big girl bed in my daughter's room. She was waaaaaay too big for her crib daybed and she was constantly on the floor. Once we got her a twin size bed, she started falling asleep right away. She's very comfortable and moves all over that bed at night, so now she has enough room for whatever dreams she's having! Also, we got the IKEA Kura with the idea that we could flip it in a year or so and add a mattress under there for another baby - maybe. :) From Crib To Big Kid Bed: A Few Considerations |
