Great room. Looks like a fun place for the whole family to hang out, not just for kids to play. Really love the bookshelves- am jealous of those. Also a huge fan of the orange wall & map.

There's one option here that's less than almost $900. That's it. I'm starting to feel really disenfranchised from the AT websites.

I agree with the above poster that this woman probably doesn't need more stuff. I clicked on this post to read ideas how to help, not gifts to send. I think organizing a cleaning service is a great idea. So is setting up a meal train or figuring out some way to help with cooking.

We also used the First Years Close and Secure Sleeper. We used it in our queen size bed, which I didn't mind, but my husband felt a little cramped. It lasted us about 3 months. I really liked the light that's attached. I could see baby but it wasn't bright enough to wake her up.

Those candy cane cookies are very similar recipe I make every year, that was handed down by my grandmother. I am OBSESSED with these cookies, probably because I only have them once a year. But the almond flavoring makes them delicious, and they're my very favorite Christmas cookie. My husband doesn't think they're worth the work and thinks nostalgia is the only reason I like them, but I swear, they're fantastic.

We're in the middle of planning a circus-themed nursery for our daughter who's due at the end of September. The tightrope wall decal will definitely go in it, along with some vintage circus posters and circus train wall cards we got from Eeboo. We're excited - thanks for the other ideas!

My mom is a teacher and was just giving me the lowdown on her end-of-year gifts. Her #1 thing is a nicely written note- she read me several that she loved this year. After that, she does appreciate gift cards. She gets SO many bookstore ones, she's always very grateful for ones to the closest mall or even Starbucks.

Am I the only one who balks at the price tag on the squeezable fruit? Especially when compared to the cost of applesauce or real, actual fruit? It might be a nice treat every once in a while, but it's not something I'd put in my kid's lunchbox everyday, especially since it wouldn't be the main food item in their lunch.

Very nice and cozy. Love the shower curtain- I've been looking for something I like in similar shades. Care to share where it's from?

We made tacos this weekend and also have a ton leftover. My husband recently went gluten-free, and thought of using them to make mini-pizzas. (Like you might with pitas.) We've got some pizza sauce, onions, black beans, and shredded cheese, so we'll probably try some mini-Mexcian pizzas this week. Don't know how the tortillas will hold up, but it doesn't hurt to try!

I still use Crisco - I try to get the trans-fat free kind when possible. My mother and grandmother swear by Crisco for pie crusts, and my mother has a reputation for making the best pie crusts around. (I am a pale imitation of her.) I bake a pie once a month, TOPS, and obviously don't eat the whole thing myself. It's all about moderation and eating healthy the rest of the time.

I often keep things that often go to waste after we use a bit, since there's just two of us. Ginger is handy kept in the freezer, as is chiles in adobo. And there's always hamburger, hot dog, or hoagie buns in there, since we rarely use more than a few at a time. And I add frozen peas to everything - pasta, rice dishes, salads...

I've bought the basil multiple times - I've used it for pastas and stirring into things. Actually, my favorite use for the basil paste was rubbed onto corn before grilling. I thought that was delicious!

I've been wanting to try to make my own chocolate candy. My mother makes this candy that's kind of a hard toffee with nuts and topped with chocolate. It's been in the family for generations, and I've been too chicken to try it yet.

This might not be a very popular ingredient, but when I'm baking pies, I swear by shortening for the crust. (I haven't had as much luck with butter crusts.) I always have Crisco on hand for pies and the occasional cookie recipe. I'm happy to say that you can find shortening that's trans-fat free now. Plus, it's vegan.

I have to pick just one thing? Since the holiday season doesn't seem that far back, I'd have to say cookies because I made a ridonkulous amount of Christmas cookies this year. But I've been drooling over this blade since you posted it, and have been debating whether I should buy one.

I'd be at a loss with baking without my Kitchen Aid mixer. My handheld mixer just does not cut it. I also love this super sturdy spatula from Williams Sonoma I just recieved as a gift. It makes mixing and scraping so much easier, I wish I had ditched my crappy ones years ago. But to mention something no one else has, I find parchament paper handy in so many ways when baking, especially to cut down on messes.
