My mom got the Betty Crocker Cookbook as a wedding present in 1977, and ever since, she's made the classic Baking Powder Biscuits. They really are great. Recipes from Days Gone By: The Ones I Still Love (And Some I Don't) |

Greek food uses a lot of mint in savory applications. I put it in Kolokythokeftedes (zucchini fritters). http://www.closetcooking.com/2008/08/greek-zucchini-fritters-with-tzatziki.html and http://www.closetcooking.com/2009/09/kolokythokeftedes-zucchini-and-feta.html are both good recipes. 10 Recipes That Use Fresh Mint Kitchn Recipe Roundup |

I use parsley in everything too! I buy a bunch and keep it in a water-filled glass in the fridge with a Ziploc bag over it. Lasts quite a while that way. I toss it into/onto eggs, potatoes, pasta, fish, beans, lentils, salads. The boyfriend has a cilantro aversion, so when he's there, I sub parsley for any recipes that call for cilantro. I'd take a toothpick and lightly trace 'Happy Birthday' onto the cheesecake's surface as a guide. Then make a firm chocolate ganache (melt dark chocolate with a bit of unsalted butter & cream). Scoop it into a Ziploc bag, snip the tiniest tip off a corner of the bag, and pipe over your traced letters. Good luck! :) Ideas for Decorating a Cheesecake? Good Questions |

I love ricotta. I've done the cocoa powder & sugar thing that @MrPeabodycat mentioned - love it. Or I'll take a bit of ricotta, some nuts, fruit & honey and eat it like yogurt. Leftover Ricotta? 5 Ideas for Using Up the Rest of the Container Ingredient Spotlight |

GASP. Someone compared Gwynnie to Martha Stewart. *ptooey*. Martha Stewart is a teacher. Domestic arts are her craft, which she has honed over a lifetime. She is aspirational/inspirational in every way that is good. *thumps chest* Gwyneth is on record as being the most unhealthy eater. She gave herself osteopenia from her extreme diet. She endorses Tracy Anderson's deeply unhealthy workout/diet regime. And she's dreadfully dull and condescending in interviews and on her website. Martha could eat her for breakfast. Thanks for this explanation! I've been seeing these pop up on more food blogs to stir into yogurt, oatmeal, etc, but didn't know anything about them. I love pine nuts, so I think I'd like these. Will have to pick some up! Hemp Seeds: Rich, Nutty & Nutritious Ingredient Spotlight |

I have a dog-hair combating routine of vacuuming, dry Swiffering, rug shaking & mopping that would probably get me an Rx for some really nice OCD meds. But it soothes me. I'm not crazy about laundry or dusting, but they don't bother me that much. The chore that I hate more than ANYTHING is washing dishes by hand. Haaaaate. I'd rather wash windows or even scrub a toilet than wash dishes. What Household Tasks Do You Most Love and Hate? |

I made these the other night and the flavor was really good - but they fell apart! I let them rest in the fridge for about half an hour, and then I made them in a skillet on the stove. Next time I'll stick to the oven method, but they were so loose that I imagine they'd have fallen apart when flipping them there too. I'd probably add a second egg and maybe a bit of panko to bind them together, but will definitely make them again! I had never heard this, but I really do believe it! I lived abroad for 5 years and changed apartments constantly, and I've only been in my current apartment for a year. Really the only house I've ever lived in for more than 7 years is the one I grew up in! So I hope to finally make one home for a full 7 to see if this pans out.
