This may be the first AT post in which parents admit their children live and sleep among the licensed characters. Bravo!

Warning: nasty content ahead

One friend posted a photo of her 3-year old son standing on a dining chair, naked from the waist down, with diarrhea streaming down his legs. The gist of the caption was how difficult is her life. I felt awful for her son. To my pleasure and surprise, almost every commenter told her the photo was inappropriate. She left it there, but the public chiding gave me hope.

I would also like to know what kind of paint Krystle used.

As a general comment, it is useful to give more information about the tools and materials used. Glass or plastic jars? Latex paint? Something else?

I am presently turning a hand-me-down dollhouse into an Action Figure Playhouse, as requested by my six-year old son. I am using fabric Modge Podge to apply superhero fabric to the walls in several rooms. It's wonderful - one coat allows me to cut the fabric to size, then another coat to adhere, and a final coat to cover. It's hard as a rock and crystal clear.

I like The Spider. Great color and a title to boot. Does anyone know of a coat rack with hangers both at the top and mid-way down? I'd like for my kids to hang up their coats independently, and kid-height hangers would be a good addition to a quality coat rack.

I'm a suburban mouse at heart. Grew up uber rural in a town of 900 people, had to drive at least 30 miles just to get to a grocery store. Movie theater required a 50 mile drive, one-way. Rural was a great way to grow up in some respects, but it was before the Internet and isolated, though lovely. Went to college 3000 miles away in a mid-size city that seemed like a metropolis to me. I could not sleep for the first three months because of the lights and traffic sounds (which I now realize were fairly minimal). I now live in one of the top 10 largest cities in the nation, but it is a very suburban city, very spread out rather than up. I love my suburban ranch home, with it's backyard and two-car garage. And I love the proximity of everything else - shopping, parks, arts, sports. I can take public transit everywhere, but I don't have to share walls with strangers.

Despite the alleged abundance of "character," the unpainted beds were going unused and clearly unappreciated. The painted beds are being used and enjoyed. That is character.

No. Just no. I spent a good portion of my late 20's removing all the dark, depressing wood paneling covering every freaking wall in the only home I could afford to buy. It was glued on and nailed on. The crevices were full of decades worth of dust. The home was cave-like. Over time I have DIY'd it all out. Just like the popcorn ceiling. I would never, ever consider putting up wood paneling anywhere in my fresh, bright home. Just like a popcorn ceiling.

Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but Xyron makes a line of products aimed at scrapbookers/crafters that can laminate. I have the Xyron 1200, which has been replaced by the Xyron 1255 (http://www.graphicproducts.com/laminators/xyron-xm1255/index.php). It laminates without heat or electricity - you crank a handle to send the item between rollers that apply the laminate. I love it because you can put in cartridges that apply more than just laminate. For example, the front will be laminated and the back will be a magnetic sheet, or an adhesive to make stickers. When I bought mine, the product number indicated the size, so the 1200 was 12" wide and the 700 was 7" wide. Not sure if the 1255 is also 12" wide.

P.S. Does anyone know where I might buy a similar curio cabinet? My son has a collection just begging for such a display.

It's disappointing to read negative commentary about "overindulgence." This isn't exactly a copy of the FAO Schwarz catalog. It is a lovely, simple expression of the child's current interest. The x-rays are fantastic! Will he be a veterinarian one day? Maybe, or maybe not. In the meantime, he can enjoy this wonderful space. If his interests change, so can his room.

Even at the lowest price point, $25 per month, that is $300 per year for toys. I could buy a heck of a lot of toys for $300, then sell them and recoup some money. This service does not sound like something I would try.

I used those types of containers to make rattles. Fill with pinto beans, tape lid on with duct tape, kid goes crazy shaking the container, you go crazy listening to it. Good times!

willimemo, virtually everything in CA has a Prop 65 lead warning attached at the point of sale. The notices are also posted in restaurants so you know that the glasses you are sipping from will kill you some day. I highly doubt that the beverage dispenser has any higher lead level than any other glass or ceramic wear available.

Carousel Designs (http://www.babybedding.com/rocking-chair-pads) makes rocking chair pads that fit these types of rounded chairs. They don't cover the arms, but do look rather nice. I just received one and the difference in having a padded back versus just the wood is amazing.
