We would head out on vacation either in the back of my grandma's conversion van with the back seat flat - definitely no seat belts. Or in a little Astro mini van with the back seat taken out, and the youngest traveler in a car seat... on the floor of the van... I have no idea if that was legal or not at the time... And one vacation my parents threw a mattress in the back of our truck with a cap. Most comfortable ride ever! My grandma, on the other hand, was terrified for us. We did the crust cookies too, they were amazing. I think I burnt my tongue on quite a few when I was a kid. It was too hard to wait until they were cool. We had some out of towners come visit after we had a baby in May and they brought a rotisserie chicken and some mashed potatoes they had bought at a grocery store. They didn't have to worry about bringing it a long distance and we got a very hassle free meal. Sure if wasn't homemade, but it was great none the less. The frozen meals are great - as long as they have adequate freezer space. We didn't, so we couldn't stockpile some of the stuff that otherwise we might have been able to. I think bread, muffins, cookies, and brownies are all great ideas as well. What Food Should I Bring (Long-Distance!) To a New Mom?
