It's very common in norway to have tiled floors because they are able to be heated underneath. cold winters.

@mimits are you sure your platter wasn't a 3rd? I've had great luck with their seconds. Have about 24 pieces (all seconds). Only 1 thing has broken and it was done by a very clumsy roommate (who ruined numerous other things just boiling water). Generally their seconds just have small imperfections in glaze for example. Their 3rds usually have more structural imperfections, which are usually pretty obvious when you look at them.

If you know you're going to eventually buy a stand mixer you could buy just the bowl that fits it now. You can usually buy those separate. Then when you do get your mixer you'll have an extra bowl for it. And since you say you bake a lot you might be craving the extra bowl eventually anyhow.

Seems any word can be annoying when over used. Feeling a little defensive I guess of a few things.

Slow Food: If it's used to describe a cooking process I can see it as being annoying. But as a concept of embracing food that is cultivated in your back yard (locally) and not purchased from a fast food restaurant seems an excellent catchy term for a movement. If you want to move a movement forward people need a name for it.

Food Porn: A lot of people post pics on FB of the dinner they made last night. Seems the best descriptor for that is Food Porn.

RR: I guess I don't watch her enough anymore to be annoyed by her terms. I did watch her exclusively while living with my parents after college. She inspired me to cook for them and made cooking seem less intimidating. I'm sure she did this for many young adults. Anyone who can do that should not be totally thrown to the wolves.

I saw a multicolored chandelier on Urban Outfitters website recently. It's more of a traditional shape than the one pictured here.

The way I've had Lefse was a little different than this. I've had it a number of times in Norway and from my Norweign friends. I've had it as layers and layers of Lefse. That you would peel off and eat cold. My memory is failing as if the layers already had the butter and sugar in between or if we added that later. But it definitely involved butter AND sugar. Do you know if this recipe would work that same way, cold? I would love to make this as it was one of my favorite edibles from Norge.

I used to when I had it in my yard. Where I grew up it grows in the oak trees. I think it's actually bad for the trees. I don't think I would ever hang fake mistletoe.

I'm lucky enough to rent an apartment with 2 ovens! So guess I have double the "storage" space. To me that just sounds like a fire hazard. I do use the ovens often and not even for major baking. Nachos are the best quick oven food. And I'm a boiler addict.

@NorNor It definitely does not slide towards the door nob. The weight of the object keeps it in place. I made my wreath, so incorporated red ribbon into the wreath. You do see it on the other side but it doesn't really bother me. When I get out my other decorations I might clip an ornament to it. Depending on how heavy a thing you are hanging you could use heavy duty fishing line and you wouldn't see it.

My Building is only two unit so it's definitely not a problem. I have a homemade wreath up.

A tip about hanging wreaths or other things on your door without putting a nail hole in the door is to use ribbon and your door nob as leverage. Wrap the ribbon over the top of the door and then secure it to your door nob on the opposite side of whatever you're hanging.

I need my jewelry "in sight" as well so keep it on a wall in my bathroom. I found my solution at the hardware store. I had a nice piece of oak 1x4 (with interesting detail) cut to fit the space and nailed carpet tacs into it because I liked the shape of the nails. I used a picture frame mount on the back to hang it. It probably cost under $8. I can hang my jewelry organized by color or style. Another added bonus is that the oak goes with the other oak accents from standard rental cabinets in the bathroom making them a little less yuck.
