Wow. Gorgeous.

I can't imagine having that wonderful view overlooking the Place des Vosges (near where Hugo wrote Les Miserables, even!). The article says she bought in 1983, when prices in the Marais were "shockingly cheap." Not so much now.

The housetohome link says the photos are all from the same house and it also has more photos of that house. It says the house is 1960s era, but it's a UK site and probably a UK house.

Is the Benjamin Moore color in the guest room "Cumulus Cloud" maybe?

Lizzykewl: It's safe as laundry detergent. It's used as a component of detergents.

You don't want your infant ingesting it, though, just like you probably don't want your infant ingesting Tide either. But in other countries it's used as a food additive, according to that wiki link, which is news to me.

I can't imagine giving up my landline. I've lived through too many disasters and outages. After Katrina, landlines were restored more quickly than the cell towers. But I don't use it much, mainly for TiVo.

Barcelona is a fabulous city, and is one of the most interesting in terms of architecture and design. It's a great place to visit even if you don't end up moving there. Gaudi was one of a kind, that's for sure.

I also am very interested in seeing a full house tour.

These limited photos aren't enough, and that first one has a weird perspective and it's hard to get a good sense of the layout. I am loving that color in the bathroom - show us more!

I agree with home body completely. I own a home with a fairly large front lawn, and in 7 years, the only time it's been "watered" is when it rains. That includes grass and plants too.

A private balcony sounds nice . . . but for resale value, a 2/2 usually beats a 1/1.

If the price is comparable, I would definitely go with the 2/2, which also has more sf overall. The 2d bedroom can be used as an office/guest bdrm, and you will be glad to have it imho, if you really need an office area. I'm not all that fond of a spiral staircase, but I'd still choose the 2/2.

Beautiful home. I like the paint colors, and enjoyed the peek into the very organized pantry. I'll never be that organized but it certainly looks nice.

PS. In the US, "homage" is indeed the correct spelling. Perhaps it's spelled differently in other countries, though.

I think the shoes in the fridge are a little weird, too (no water or beer?), but I agree that the comments and scorn heaped upon these people are a lot stranger.

Who the heck cares if someone else doesn't cook? It's not a moral failing. Lots of people don't have any interest in cooking, in NYC and elsewhere, and it's not always cheaper. And the advice to "get rid of the appliances"? Have you people never been renters before? Sheesh.

And I can't help but judge people who can't use proper capitalization and spelling.

I think -- and I may be wrong -- that he/she is saying that a 1 bd condo in a cool converted bldg in midtown shouldn't be decorated in the conservative style of an Alpharetta mcmansion. Or something like that. I think it's a slam on the design choices, not the choice of where to live.

I like the cabinets. And I enjoy seeing ATL homes on here even though AT doesn't have an ATL section.

I like the color choices as well. This house has such a nice cheerful feel overall. It's a similar style and size to my house but much prettier. I need a dad who can come in and help me remodel! :(

Btw, it's "one fell swoop" not "foul swoop." Heh. Although it might be "foul" if you did it in one fell swoop. :)

Wow. This place is fantastic. Bold and beautiful.

I don't think I would want to live there (a lot of the furniture fabric is too "Del Boca Vista" for me), but I would certainly love to visit and stay in that guestroom a few days. :)

Adorable. I really like the look of this place, a lot.

I guess maybe this IS a little my style, although I wouldn't have ever said I liked anything "country." I love the Craftsman style and dark wood, and I love the homey, cozy feel of your design. And I'm so happy to see something other than all the MCM and "Keep Calm" posters we are always seeing on AT. I even like the pink guest bedroom. :)

There are artists out there who do this, but there might be copyright issues if you can't prove that the painting is in the "public domain."

Here is one company that does reproductions:

I don't own an ironing board. I can't even remember the last time I ironed, it's probably been over ten years.

My mother never ironed either, so I never learned why it was necessary. She taught me to take clothes out of the dryer immediately, and that's what I do. So there really isn't much need to iron.
