I highly recommend framesbymail.com for custom matting. They have a large range of colors and can do layered mats. They ship items very carefully so they always arrive in perfect condition. All of our artwork looks professionally framed for only $6-$50/mat depending on the size. I have never purchased their frames to go along with the mats, but they always have sales so it may be a reasonable alternative too.

I would recommend using a wire fruit basket as your "pendant" light. Crate & Barrel ($15) has one with a wire bottom that is easy to cut, but still strong enough to support the electric cord and light. You can keep the stainless steel finish or customize it. They have rope light cord tabs that can be spray painted different colors, or red, to keep the extension cord from the wall in place so it looks like part of the design. in addition, Rachel at smallnotebook.org has a great tutorial for a DIY bubble chandelier. If you keep the industrial look and combine it with the red, it will still look masculine. Good luck!
