If you're doing backyard compost you can avoid some of these items, but my city has a municipal compost system. For example we can put meat in the bins. It gets picked up every two weeks, or every week in the summer, and goes to a facility to be made into compost.

Yeah, but then your stand mixer would have to out all the time, you'd have to wash all those parts, and it would cost a lot to buy all those attachments. Not to mention that if the power goes out but you still need to make food, what are you going to do?

You can make Greek style yogurt at home without a machine. Just strain it.

You can also buy stainless steel water bottles. Or buy a plastic BPA free one. There are a ton of options out there.

Being sick sucks not matter who you are or who is in your life.

I don't have a car, can't afford one. So it's not really a preference so much as a necessity to take transit.

I would make this but probably not put in the asparagus. I find it gets gross if they cook too long.

Will you be doing a needs assessment before you start the class? I don't know if you've planned courses before, but if you can send out a little questionnaire to the participants beforehand, you can get a few clues to what kind of things they want to learn. You've already received a lot of great tips on what to cook, but just thought I would mention this. Good luck :)

You can buy pass the no colour ink thing. I have a Canon printer and have never replaced the colour cartridges. You just have to hold down RESET until the printer starts making noises again.

I print knitting patterns sometimes, shipping labels, coupons. Sometimes I have to print off stuff to send to student loans. Still, I don't print often.
