50 sounds cold. I live in Canada but the thermostat in my apartment is set to Fahrenheit and it's usually between 65-72. It's cold right now and I need to get up off my butt and turn up the heat. I would never choose to go without heat but it sucks when you have to or if the system doesn't work well.

Not having hot water for a shower is worse though.

People already take their shoes off when the come into my house, as do I.

I don't understand. How hard is it to make mashed potatoes. You boil them. You mash them. Tada.

I get mine at the bulk store and they are much cheaper, but you can easily use other nuts.

I think it's really sad what happened, and since it has nothing to do with you, I don't think you should let it get to you. Imagine how the owner must feel to have to sell the house?

Why wouldn't you just boil the pasta on another burner while you make the cheese sauce?

I have similar shelves in my new place and I will be using them for kitchen stuff like jars, mugs, glasses.

I just moved into a basement flat in a house on Monday. Today the new upstairs neighbours moved in and I did introduce myself to one of them (the guy wasn't around). Normally I keep to myself, but that doesn't mean I am not friendly. I've lived in some flats where I barely saw my neighbours. This is a pretty friendly city though. People will just say hi to you when you're walking down the street.
