I only came to see how many people complained about the cats on the table. Psssst: Tablecloths are washable.

50 sounds cold. I live in Canada but the thermostat in my apartment is set to Fahrenheit and it's usually between 65-72. It's cold right now and I need to get up off my butt and turn up the heat. I would never choose to go without heat but it sucks when you have to or if the system doesn't work well.

Not having hot water for a shower is worse though.

I don't understand. How hard is it to make mashed potatoes. You boil them. You mash them. Tada.

Seriously? Aside from the candles and HBC blanket, that other stuff is super lame (I say that as a Canadian).

I get mine at the bulk store and they are much cheaper, but you can easily use other nuts.

I think it's really sad what happened, and since it has nothing to do with you, I don't think you should let it get to you. Imagine how the owner must feel to have to sell the house?

YB: Interesting post. My Dutch friend stayed with me and when she washed the dishes I always had to rewash them because they were still dirty. ;)

I think they are wasteful, expensive, and the coffee is not very good. It's not that hard to make some coffee in a regular coffee maker. You don't have to fill the whole thing! ;)

Well did your landlord actually say the possibilities are endless? Personally I don't see the point in putting a lot of money into a rental, unless the money is for things you can take with you. Paining and putting up artwork is one thing, but any other permanent changes seem like a waste to me. Invest in some nice furniture instead.

First Home Advice: Where Do Renters Draw the Line?

I just moved into a basement flat in a house on Monday. Today the new upstairs neighbours moved in and I did introduce myself to one of them (the guy wasn't around). Normally I keep to myself, but that doesn't mean I am not friendly. I've lived in some flats where I barely saw my neighbours. This is a pretty friendly city though. People will just say hi to you when you're walking down the street.

I try to declutter before, but this move I'm a total fail at that. Part of the problem is I didn't start early enough and no I can't get anyone reliable to take away my free stuff.
