Yep - just started using the papertowel on blueberries and that worked.

Washing and Storing Summer Berries: 5 Tips We Learned the Hard Way

I lived with my husband for nearly 20 years, got divorced and lived alone for six and just had my boyfriend move in. My personal preference is having someone to talk to, to share with the chores and expenses and to fall asleep with. It is STILL taking some getting used to, but it helps keep me from falling into rabbit holes on the computer, and other bad habits that solitude bred in me. Gotta disagree about staying at home too much - we're always out and about.

first thing that came to mind, round mirror. I picture a large round mirror with no frame, and with that shabby antique look (like mercury glass)...that would look cool!

A friend strung hers together to make a "curtain" - it looks awesome. It took her a really long time, but when the light hits the different colored caps (and the interspersed beads) it looks awesome. Here's a pic http://www.flickr.com/photos/ktmccall/5597465044/

In my office, which I can't easily get painted, I have large pieces of brightly colored fabric (reused from an event I did) hanging from floor to ceiling...it makes a huge impact and is removable. Also, there's all that vinyl and other temporary wall stuff that is pretty cool.

Someone with basic sewing skills could do a decent job - all right angles and straight seams. I have nearly no sewing skills and have made zippered slip covers for cushions and they've turned out just fine. Otherwise, you have to have it custom made...I don't think there's any other options unless West Elm manufactures one for that particular sofa.

I like the Nelson bench/planter combo that a friend of mine has - here's a similar one http://s3.amazonaws.com/data.tumblr.com/tumblr_l3lmdfhRJG1qbh5kqo1_1280.jpg?AWSAccessKeyId=AKIAJ6IHWSU3BX3X7X3Q&Expires=1305822607&Signature=U2S28ZwpfbxzEJb1%2BtAWumIPNww%3D It is versatile but doesn't really match the clock, but would fit nicely in that space otherwise.

I have nearly the same fantasy about my old bed, but know that it would look crappy (too bulky, etc. What my compromise will probably be is to just get a simple bed frame with no headboard....that would work in my particular room, anyway.

I agree with the making your own slip on that simple shape - I can't really sew well, but made a nice one for a window seat, with a long zipper, etc. - It was time consuming, but looks great and was pretty easy.

Boy, I would hate to have dictated to me what color my house is, but I guess that is normal for a lot of suburban neighborhoods. Are you also restricted on the trim? I like your idea on the gray - I would go a darker gray (anthracite) with white trim in that case.
