We got invited to friends for dinner and I'm bringing dessert. I have to work this weekend so will not have a lot of time to cook. I decided to bring my favorite store bought cake and ice cream....Dancing Deer chocolate bundt cake and Talenti almond gelato topped with a homade cherry amaretto sauce. What's Cooking This Weekend? We had a few mouse sightings last fall. I removed the dry dog food that I usually left out and put all grains in plastic containers. I put peppermint oil on cotton balls under the sink, in the pantry cabinet, and in spots where we saw them run. We have not seen them again. What To Do with Mouse in the House? Good Questions |

Last night I made wild mushroom and barley soup with turkey sausage and fennel salad. Soup was just right with the bitterly cold weather here in Boston. We'll have takeout tonight after work then poached eggs with truffle salt, leftover turkey sausage and roasted tomatoes for breakfast on Sunday. What's Cooking This Weekend? I think high and wide is awkward in most cases. If you have high ceilings you don't need to create an illusion. If you don't have high ceilings it's obvious. The gap between the ceiling in the window frame destroys the illusion. Tension rods and Roman shades show off molding best which is what I have used in most rooms. When I use draperies I hang just outside and at the top of the molding. Going too wide can take up too much wall space for many rooms. I hate the idea of a "rule" that blinds people from seeing what may or may not work for their room. Height to Hang Curtains in Old Victorian? Good Questions |

I actually enjoy it when the holidays are over and I have more time to relax or work on projects. I live in New England and do not like the short days, so I also like to leave the lights up to counteract the dark season. I like to force paperwhites, light fires, and burn candles to brighten things up a bit. Soups, stews, popcorn and movies help. How Do You Deal with the Post-Holiday Blues? |

I like lemon balm, hibiscus, or ginger but I do not sun brew. I make a concentrated tea with hot water, approximately 1/5 the total volume then add cold water and ice. You end up with freshly brewed instant iced tea. Delicious Ways to Infuse Sun Tea? Good Questions |

I dilute coconut water with sparkling water and add lime juice.....very refreshing. I also love tulsi tea with lemon, flavor is more robust than most herbal teas. Some varieties do add caffeine. Refreshing, Caffeine-Free Afternoon Drink: Coconut Water |

A good ad would not necessarily reflect the taste of the advertising professionals. It should be geared toward your demographic audience and the new folks you hope to capture. Contemporary design is "cleaner," there is less to distract the viewer from whatever it is you are trying to sell. Most kitchens in ads are white, which I believe may be for the same reason America's Modern Alterego on TV |
