I agree with macbride about what causes pilling. I've used inexpensive organic sheets and high-end organic sheets, cotton percale and sateen weaves, and I've never experienced pilling. When pilling occurs on fabric it has to do with short staple length of the fiber or because the yarn is too loosely twisted.

It's easy to find fault with current organic or natural fiber/fabric farming and processing methods because they are not 100% pure. However, I'll take certified organic or sustainably produced natural fabrics any day over petroleum based textiles, especially those made with "wrinkle -free" or other toxic chemical finishes.

Here's a good blog post about how-to keep your cloth shower curtain free of mold and soap build-up: http://www.satarahome.com/blogs/satara-blog/9261337-how-to-care-for-your-cloth-shower-curtain

A nylon pack cloth shower curtain is also a good alternative to plastic/vinyl curtains. It's has good drape and more heft than a polyester curtain. Super easy to wash and dry.
