I am LEED architect but did not know the origins of the LEED system. Thank you for bringing up David Gottfried and the parallel German system.
I agree with the last contributor that the LEED system falls prey to capitalism. Hopefully in the near future, the guidelines stipulated in the LEED system would simply become law - much like when ADA guidelines were absorbed into law.

I am an Eichler enthusiast. Thank you for submitting the article. It is succinct, engaging and descriptive. The upgrade/renovation is wonderful. It is great to see that a modern classic could be brought up to today's green standards.
