With Library of Congress ordering, you usually have to first think of a topic first (i.e. "biology") which I find really intuitive. We have a lot of books, and it's immensely helpful to have a very structured system. It is, however, undeniably utilitarian, and well, not very pretty.

We love our modified Library of Congress ordering system and are a little horrified by the color families ordering system. How could you ever find anything?

I have an incredibly warm silk-filled comforter that comes out every winter. It insulates so well that even though it's billed as a "three-season" blanket (spring, summer, and fall), we can only use it during the winter with the thermostat at 50 F overnight!
I'm so taken with how luxe they feel that I'm getting the summerweight blanket so I can enjoy it year-round.

I constantly worry about the 8 lb aquarium light I have suspended from the ceiling on cables like this. This table would give me stress ulcers.

Every time I see a tiny, unheated, uncovered betta bowl like that, my heart breaks a little.

Not a big enough consumer of aspartame to care whether it's toxic or not, but @AnotherPaula, lol, as a former neuroscience concentrator (since graduated), I have whole shelves-full of bio, medicine, and chem textbooks, and I've barely read any of them. However, it does make me look significantly smarter that they're there ;).

I'm glad it works for them, but I don't love it. Despite all that warm light it feels cold--more like a commercial space than a home. I agree that the style lacks cohesiveness, and a lot of the furniture that I see are DWR designy but not terribly imaginative.

Zamioculcas zamifolia can get to a nice specimen sized plant even in lower light. When it doesn't get enough light or water it just stops growing, but it stays green and alive through it all.
