I too love midcentury but ended up buying a small 1920s bungalow. The scale of the rooms is perfect for my petite midcentury furniture, though, and it also works well with my few antiques, transitional pieces, and the odd Ikea item. And after living for a year in a rented modern townhouse with a relatively spacious master bedroom with ridiculously little storage space, I much prefer our cozy bedroom with a surprisingly roomier closet. Beautiful home -- and truly terrific back story! I hope you'll share more with us soon.

Looks fabulous! I think simpler knobs would better showcase the furniture's nice lines as well as your pottery, but very nice transformation.

My husband used to gripe, "Why would we cover up a big part of our nice wood floors with a rug? It makes no sense!" Then I got a gorgeous rug and now he is a believer.

Both of my kitties died last year and we have decided to stick with dogs from now on (we already have one -- he was best buds with the kitties) simply because my husband and I despise litter boxes so much. It's incredible how much cleaner my house is now that there's no box. One of my friends told me that her cat just goes outside to relieve himself, which sounded like a cool idea until the poor thing got run over by a car a couple of weeks ago. :-( On that downer note, good luck to all you kitty owners with the cursed litter box. These ones look nice, which is a good start.

I wonder if commenters would be so harsh if they were subjected to such bitchy criticism at their own jobs. "Your accounting is such a dud, Marge. What a bunch of stupid ideas you have, Ted." On top of that, it's not like AT's bloggers are making bank while having to put up with it all. None of these ideas would work for me, personally, but I find them inoffensive and unworthy of such vitriol.

I used to write for this site and the negative comments -- whether directed at me or the people/things I wrote about -- were such a huge turnoff. "Just saying." It was lovely to read so many positive comments before the cluck clucking, though.

The judgmental tone of many of these comments is insufferable.
