As for windows, there are two choices.
A 'real' window set into a frame and into the lattice via notches that allow for movement of the yurt.
Or vinyl roll down windows.

How To Raise a Yurt in Four Hours

I lived in a yurt 'village' at a local Nordic ski center for 5 winters. As a manager of the place I tended to all 7 of them but there really wasn't much to do, other than shovel the walks...we got up to 500" of snow a season.
Anyway, the snow loads are reinforced by interior structural elements.
When the snow gets to a certain depth it all slides off.
Even sooner when there's interior heat.
The round shape makes them easy to heat.
Alas, the exterior only lasts about 15 years but the most modern kit ones are made of recyclable material, while the interior structure will last much longer.
I've purchased my 30' yurt (for somewhat elegant living) from White Mt. Yurts in NH but am still looking for just the right piece of land to put it on.

From the top down gardening is the most respectable approach to creating great soil...don't disturb that soil, if you can help it. However, it's a highly time consuming unless you're really and truly dedicated to your garden. The thing I always wonder about, though, are the weed seeds that blow in on the wind, seeking great growing conditions in that awesome top layer of compost.
I agree with planting intensely, crowded if you will...the desirables really do shade the ground and become their own best friend in preventing weeds from taking over.

They sure have high hopes! I doubt they'll reach all the way up but it's sure to be beautiful at any rate. We've done this before plenty of times, it's always fun to see them curl around the twine. I, too, suggest a stronger string material.

I can see myself creeping gently around the edges.
Then spending way too much time in the sitting position staring into the depths below.
Kinda cool, kinda creepy.

I picture a dense and sturdy cushion covered in a cute blue and brown upholstery fabric, anchored at the four corners to finish it off. Nice job!

The makeover restored the dignity to this sturdy little piece.
The fresh paint and stained top were a great option (tho my taste goes toward natural wood color, but that's just me) and have brought the piece new life,
Great job!

Well, that's one opinion...@architecturalculturalreference May you never have to endure years of endless pain on the way to trying the usual last resort, acupuncture. Science doesn't quite deliver all the time.

Okay, and yes, I'm a total believer in acupuncture. I've had many years (off and on) of treatment. It has taken care everything from reducing/eliminating scar tissue to helping me eliminate back pain after two years of numerous other types treatment to mending my broken spirit and then some.
Yes, if I lived in LA I'd be a regular.
This guy's energy is wonderful.

Spelling cop here. Turmeric typo alert.
But I must say I LOVE the Starbucksbottles and would only use the smaller ones, as I assume these are. They're elegant looking with their frosted glass labels.
Also voting for a glass cutter for @tasterspoon.

OMG...deep breath...where do I start?!
First let me say I'd jump on a chance to have anyone with this much heart and passion offer me an acupuncture treatment. Your space fills and restores the body and soul. I'd arrive an hour early to take it all in...each time. Somany wonderful elements had me smiling and relaxing.
I love the many succulents, so many in one space. It fills me with a sense of complete nourishment...I've always loved the odds of their survival in their native harsh environments, based on their ability to store water and nutrients.
It doesn't feel like you've filled the space just because you can or had an urgency to do so...more, it feels like a playful use of space with just enough room to include all the elements that make you, and those who enter, happy.
I'll have to go back to this one again and again.

I don't believe the so called non-invasive bamboo is truly non-invasive.
The only bamboos that grow in Zone 5 are all horribly invasive.
DO NOT PLANT BAMBOOS, ever!!!
Yes, please listen to the wise sages above.
And also, the tree suggestions are all good ones and probably spot on.
Pruned forsythia they are not.
Another tree to consider is the columnar Bradford Pear.
It maxes out at about 6-8' wide by about 16-20' tall...would that work in your spot?
They're not fussy about conditions other than full sun (meaning 6+ hours or more of direct contact sun).
And yes, of course take this photo with you to the nursery center and explain what you want.
Find out where the landscapers get their plant material and go there.
Good luck with your project!

Oh, and a simple salad that's stunning in color and almost always gets devoured: edamame, black beans, chopped: red and yellow peppers, red onion, grated garlic, tomato, celery and almonds. Herbs and spices of your choice. Slathered and held together with Greek yog.

Some of the offerings are so laden with great flavors and intensity (like the desserts, for example) it doesn't leave much room for other offerings on the plate. I love trying almost anything/everything at a pot luck but get bummed when people try to outdo each other with intense richness.
But of course it's really fun trying out new things, too!!
Our pot luck dinners in Ithaca, NY, are amazing...there's always super healthy and tasty food in abundance.
