@EREUYI Ha, ours weren't temporary! When my mom was a single parent and we moved from tiny, crappy apartment to tiny, crappy apartment, each of us kids (there were 3 at the time) had 2 cardboard under-bed boxes and 1 three drawer cardboard dresser. I think I used mine all through elementary school up until highschool!

I second the West Side Market in Cleveland. I'm from Cleveland, but have moved to Minnesota... and I swear I have dreams about the West Side Market.

I bought a few tubes when my co-op had a special on it. I use as 1:1, but only when I need a small amount. When I need a lot, I just use the canned.

Bride's Cake/Zebra Cake. My Granny (from Scotland) makes it with thin chocolate cookies and unsweetened whipping cream. Add a few spoonful of mascarpone to stabilize the cream, layer on a pretty dish, cover and chill overnight. It's really easy and delicious. You can also make individual portions. I have to do that, otherwise the temptation to eat the whole thing is just too much!

We use a combo of borax and diatamaceous earth. We have ridiculous earwigs, pharaoh ants and box elder beetles. For sure our best remedy? We put a birdfeeder about two feet off the ground near our front porch.

There are 7 kids in my family. I'm the eldest. We are all loved, well taken care of, socially-responsible, well-adjusted people. As for "quality time," I don't think any of us have ever felt neglected. Regarding the carbon footprint of my family, we have always recycled, use public transportation, and three of us are vegetarian. There wasn't always a ton of luxury growing up, but we never lacked anything.

Our parents are not religious, and are both (college educated) Cleveland area factory workers. If all of their kids decided to be childfree, Mom and Dad wouldn't bat an eye.

Everyone has the right to control their own fertility. If you choose to have a kids, use technology, adopt or be childfree, those are your choices.

I think the bedspread is from the Shabby Chic line at Target. I have the same one. Which, may I add, does not look at all Shabby Chic in my bedroom.

1. Expand our garden to more than just herbs and tomatoes.
2. Bake bread more than just once a month.

Since I was married this year, I received a great number of my kitchen gifts this year! My favorites are our dishes, glassware and silverware. (And pretty much everything else we have, since we picked most of them.)

But my absolute favorite, is my great-grandmother's tea infuser. It looks like two little filigree spoons stuck together. It seems odd, but it's something she used everyday, and now I use it everyday.

I've made brittle in a metal baking tin line with my silpat. It turned out just fine... so I think the silicone bakeware would work.

I love making braised red and white cabbage (or a winter green) and rutabaga with balsamic vinegar or wine in the slow cooker. The restaurant I work in uses it as a base for soup, but I think it's delicious on its own.

We have 5 Anchor-Hocking from Crate and Barrel, and all of our Corningware (5 containers) and Pyrex (4) have lids. The whole lot didn't cost more then $50, and will last us a lot longer than the margarine tubs. I do have my eye on some rubbermaid produce-savers though.

I made 100 yards of doily garlands (like photo 3) for my wedding this summer. We are using them for holidays, birthdays, and all sorts of other things. They are lovely and soooo easy to make.
