I am lucky enough to have read & returned my library copy, but actually am thinking about purchasing once it's out in paperback because it's really a great touchstone. Will stay tuned to see what happens with a group read; anyone know when the paperback is slated for release?

Alana! Your Expedit looks AMAZING!!

Just wanted to give you a big shout-out and say that I can't believe the improvement. Good for you for going with your gut and getting the darn thing!

& as for the dresser, I dunno, I don't think I'm a huge fan of the barn board effect but maybe it's just that I can't picture it in its final environment?

SF_Gal, please share the name of your packing company with us! I had NO idea having a packer could be so affordable, and since our family has a toddler & is planning an overseas move, I can use all the help I can get.

Just wanted to share the link to buy the decals at the (online)Curiosity Shoppe...the Shoppe has also just opened a storefront in San Francisco (lucky lucky us!) at 885 Valencia, between 19th & 20th. Can't wait to check it out myself....

Oh goodness! I only just saw this announcement -- we are so proud, and happy to Represent our beloved AT:SF as well. Now to find something wonderful for our home to put the prize money towards...I'm leaning towards a lovely cozy armchair. Will have to consult my Cure-mates for advice!

Again, thank you *so* much to AT:SF & blik for the decals, the prize, the fun family project, and the transformation in our monkey's room.

Hey Anne,

Our undersink area is tiny as well, so we just bought a little ikea trash can that's meant to slide out but didn't install the hardware. So it's really just a trash can under a sink, but since we compost all organic matter it doesn't need to be any sort of smell-proof heavy-duty can. Maybe you could just find a can that fits and use that for the time being? We also keep our recycling on a little side porch (a closet or pantry would work, if we had such things!) so really our kitchen trash ends up being minimal and the space requirement small.

As for my cure, well, I'm mostly thinking rather than doing. The living room is actually the room I'd like the most advice/input on; I have some specific things I just can't puzzle out myself, but I just have no time to document, post, and discuss it all these days. Sigh!!

Very sweet! I like the squares too, with the little bits of outside peeking in along the edges. Might have to try this for my facing-the-neighbor's-ganky-wall kitchen window!

In San Francisco, you can contact Friends of the Urban Forest for a free tree: they do neighborhood plantings if at least 30 homes want to plant a tree out front.

Thanks Alana, I needed that!
(My guy makes me take all the couch cushions off too, so he can do 'high jumps' and 'slides into the mud'.)

LOL Alana -- would love the photo!
And yes, he absolutely does help clean up; we've done this ever since he was wee, but he's just recently started testing the waters of personal power more and more and I'm not pushing back too hard on stuff that isn't as important. Aah, the joys of child development! I guess I really should start that Curing with Kids thread on the AT:SF flickr page...although it seems we'd be the only ones posting!

Alana - I had the same comment for maceelaine re: the curtain on one of her earlier kitchen photos! I too think it would be a great way to reduce visual clutter while not impeding access to the pantry.

I saw that fabric at Ikea recently! You know, it might be perfect for over his glass door to the back yard; I have leftover fabric from the window, but felt like it would be too matchy for me to use it on the door. Thanks for reminding me about it :)

My boys (hubby/kiddo/dog) are off for a one-night camping trip tomorrow, so I am really really hoping to at least make a tiny bit of headway around here. I do totally get that I'm not supposed to be making myself crazy over this, it's just frustrating 'cause I wish I had more...no, some...time to devote to this right now. The house really needs it, and so do I. Actually, what I *really* need is a way to keep everything in my entire house off-limits to the kiddo so I don't spend all my free time putting back what he pulls out, LOL! OK I'm only kind of laughing. But crying inside. Heh.

It's so adorable, especially with the handmade matching quilt! I can't tell from the photos - is this a painted Ikea Duktig doll bed? My son has one, and his Ugly Doll--plus a gorilla--also sleep in it right next to his toddler bed.

That delicious quilt and pillow...sigh. Dreamy!

Oh my gosh. I am feeling so far flung off the Cure wagon!
Somehow I can't. Keep. Up. Chalk it up to the toddler's insane energy levels maybe? Yes, I do still plan to start a thread about Curing w/kids on flickr (is Alana the only one in our group who is in this boat?)...if I can ever get enough time at the computer to do so!
I am also terribly, horribly behind at commenting on anyone's photos. sigh. I too am feeling like not having one consistent page to visit for a quick check-in is making me feel even more scattered, but not sure what I'd suggest as a remedy to that. (Or, rather, don't really feel it's my place to try and reorganize things for everyone else, especially since I'm hardly ever able to be here!)

OH! Thank you all sooooo much for your support, advice, and lovely comments on our blik entry. The room has changed so much, and we're all so happy with it! Now on to the rest of the house... :)

Crap, gotta run. Will really try to get back on track, but have some other stuff going on that's really derailing the process. Need. Clone. Now!

This design is a wonderful nightstand alternative for those of us with curious toddlers running around the house (for whom everything below the 4' level is fair game)!

I just have to say that I'm so embarassed to have shot the room with my son's pajamas on top of the hamper! At least I edited out all the ones with his cute little naked tushie.... :)

Carina -- yippee! Another soul doing the Cure with kids!
I feel like kids add such a different set of challenges to the Cure (well, to life in general of course!) and have been wishing there was someone else here to talk to about that stuff. How old are yours? Mine is 2.5. Perhaps we should start a 'Curing with kids' discussion thread on Flickr?
Anh-minh, would that be cool?
(I peeked briefly at the 'unofficial' Flickr cure group and saw a thread about Curing with pets, which gave me the idea.)

Any other parents out there?

Hi there!

I completely agree with wig re: floor rather than hanging lamp now that I see the height of the ceiling & proximity of the other one.

I've uploaded some photos of my blik'd room! I sure hope everyone likes them. They are in my photostream within the blik makeover set, and I sent two to the group. Here's one that shows the biggest cluster of birdies.

The curtains, as you see, are still missing - I will make them tonight & hang them tomorrow. I found some 1/2 off Ikea curtains that I'm cutting down; they are here but kind of look like poo in that photo. You can see a little more if you enlarge the photo, but the catalog picture is better still. Hopefully these will keep the room feeling open & airy, and I can always switch to a different fabric when not under such a tight deadline!

The room is impossible to photograph cohesively so am a bit concerned about submitting the end results to blik, but will play around with it tomorrow in the daytime and see what I can do. Maybe photostitching...who knows.

anh-minh:
The DWR site is broken right now so I can't pull up your lamp photo to tell if this would work, but have you seen the rope-light chandelier in the current ReadyMade (page 34)? Again, I can't look at your lamp to see if it would be just too much visual competition or a lovely compliment.

if you don't have the mag I can scan it for you....
