Alkalol is a life-saver. It's an old fashioned sinus and sore throat remedy (been around since 1896) It is described as a mucus solvent (lovely, I know) that you mix with hot water and gargle with. Particularly useful in or after a hot shower. Really helps clear your throat/nose. You can also dilute it and use it in a netty pot to clear out your sinus passages. It's available at most drugstores but it's behind the pharmacy counter and you have to ask for it. Comes in a dark bottle that looks like hydrogen peroxide.
