WOW.

Bravo.

This is one of the most impactful before & afters I've seen.

Calling it decorating is a bit unfair, it's the furniture that make up the most of that cost.

Do you even need to pin-point your style? Can't you just have things in your home that you like and are drawn to?

"Under-the-sea catholic convent".

You can't just say such a colourful description without supplying pictures! I am now ridiculusly interested.

Good work! I've now also exclusively furnished my first apartment with second hand items, it really makes much more sense. The mindset has stuck with me, now one year later, the thought of buying new furniture seems unreasonable and not one bit interesting.

I really enjoyed seeing someone else sporting an old big lump of plastic TV. It looks humble and down to earth, which is quite rare in apartments displayed on this site, even when they try to go for that look, it often comes off as a bit too hip and pretentious.

I really like it.

Can anyone explain the history behind New Orleans and its affinity for kitsch and eccentricity? Where does it come from?

Wow! That rug with the circular pattern is just amazing when looked at from above.
Where on earth do I find a rug like that?

Awesome place!

I really liked the carpet, anyone know where I can find the same, or something similar?

Haha, I'm usually on the "Don't paint that old wood!"-side of things, but I really like this transformation. The before looks really boring and I don't like the contrast of the lighter wood frame.

The after is delicious and unique.

That is one sexy dresser. Good work.

I must be crazy to prefer the before. I really like the sturdy look of the table and chairs, I would have loved it in my kitchen if the chairs were reupholstered in white fabric. Suits the beach cottage vibe I'm going for.

The before comes off as more unique to me, while the hairpin leg and Eames chair is something that is all over the internet.

Still, good work! :)

Cool, but isn't it a bit over the top with a $1195 recliner and a $499 rug in a childs room?

Where she found it is irrelevant. I would gladly buy it if I weren't on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean. Someone spent hundreds of hours making this item, to paint it would be disrespectful to that artist.
If she doesn't like it, she should set it free by putting it up for auction on eBay, or donate it to a second hand store. That way this piece will continue to live on and be appreciated.

Nevermind the monetary value.
Do you really have to paint it? Can't you appreciate it as it is?
This is likely to be a hobbyist made item, and not something commercially sold for decoration. If this item has a story, you kind of ruin it by slabbing paint on-to it.

Can't you make your own object of art instead?

Awesome. What is that painting/picture above the couch? I like it.

What's wrong with the ceiling fan andrica? It matches the nightstands and has a nice size compared to a lamp. Oh, and it's probably delightful on hot Texas nights.

I would personally stain the shutter drawers to a golden brown colour, and then paint the rest white. It would highlight the cool part of this piece, which is the shutter texture.

I was captivated by the before picture. The big rope bridge photo blended in with the beige wall colour made for a really laid back and relaxing impression.
