I was in a similar situation: walnut credenza sitting in an alley in the rain, the top smelled very strongly of fish though. i wiped it with diluted enzyme cleaner, set it out in the hot sun to really dry it out and disinfect, and put coffee grounds on the surface. The grounds drew out the smell like baking soda, and replaced it with the smell of coffee. There is no trace of the fishy smell anymore. worth a try before sanding? Sanding cat pee could be nasty. Good luck! Its a really nice piece.

I absolutely love my apartment, BUT...no closets!!! Well... scratch that, ONE closet, but it holds the hot water tank and not much else. We rent a 3 bedroom apartment with 2 kids, and have had to come up with our own solutions, but I would just love to be able to throw things in a big old closet sometimes! On the other hand, the lack of closets has made us more conscious of what we buy and hold onto, maybe a blessing in disguise?

I've never felt the urge to comment on house/room tours until now. I LOVE THIS ROOM. And I love your inspiration even more, you can tell the little person who will be living in it will be surrounded by wonderful energy. Thank you for sharing and congratulations :)

An Earthy and Otherworldly Space for Baby My Room

I had such great momentum until Monday when my family was struck with the flu! We only just got over it today so I've got some catching up to do. A week of the flu has wreaked havoc on a lot of the hard work I had already done, but the cure has put me in a better position to manage the superficial messes. This was my first year participating, and I found it incredibly helpful in identifying what it is I want from my home. I usually save the deep cleaning for Spring but this year I will have time for other fun projects!

Weekend Chores: Relax & Celebrate! The January Cure Assignment #22

Sadly the apartment I'm renting has not a single closet!!! As a family of 4 (2 adults, 2 under 2) we have a lot of STUFF that piles up and ends up in my room. The January cure has helped me trim a lot of fat which has helped tremendously. Still my room is not the minimal space of tranquility I envision, but at least its clean! Hopefully our next home has storage...

I think I might enjoy a beer with my husband, listen to music, and start drawing which is one of my resolutions this year (draw more). The internet has distracted from that many, many times i'm afraid :S
