At least Purina is doing something good for animals with this event, because their food is awful garbage.

LOVELY! While the inside is gorgeous - so sunny and serene! - I'd never want to be inside!

I live in nearly the same house and the 1915 trim and paneling are still unpainted in the living and dining room. PLEASE DON'T PAINT THE TRIM!

A bright white or soft gray will freshen it up.

Way better deals are to be had if you're willing to not live in a "hip" neighborhood. I have 1000 sf + $75 MUNI pass and I save about $1000 per month. On transit it only takes me 15 minutes to get downtown, Castro or Mission.

Ah. You can inherit rent control in SF - or through a sublet.

The new kitchen is GORGEOUS. I would have liked to buy their old cabinets to restore my 50s remodeled and devoid of personality kitchen, closer to its 1915 roots.

Mad Men is a sitcom? Also Monica Geller's apartment was inherited from her grandmother - so if they did pay rent (as opposed to own outright) it would be rent controlled.

A child's room that looks child appropriate! I love it!

(pleeeeeeease can we have better photos? I can't see 2 of the walls and the closeup of the ellie is for what?)

I think this is an odd use of space. 4 seats/2 places to dine - but barely lip service to conversational seating?

I love every single thing about this home. EVERY ONE.

I can't imagine a teen boy in that room because this 41 year old woman thinks it suits her perfectly :D

I have plenty of IKEA. The stuff that's older than 10 years or so is in better shape than the stuff that's less than a year old. I can't even count how many things I've assembled (for me and for friends - I'm a local legend in my own mind.) I bought an Expedit for my daughter and put two dents and a crack in it before it was fully assembled. My 11 year old Billy bookcases have been moved 5 or 6 times and are solid.

Maybe they just don't make IKEA like they used to.

I wish I would have been so crafty! I lived with my hideous blue flowered glider for two years. This is SO MUCH more adorable.

Perhaps AT could do a post on how to set social boundaries for those that fear getting stuck in awkward conversations. It's not really that difficult to say, "I've gotta run! Good seeing you!"

Do You Avoid Your Neighbors?

We live in a residential neighborhood of San Francisco (all single family homes.) The best part of our neighborhood is that we smile and wave to all our neighbors. If anyone is standing still and clearly has time, we'll chat. Otherwise we're just happy to cross paths and be respectful that others may not have time to shoot the breeze. I've lived in buildings that were similarly familiar but not intrusive.

I'd be an unhappy person if I caught myself purposely avoiding contact with others.

As a life-long renter I would be THRILLED to have the After bathroom - every part of it. I actually like the countertop with the gray cabinets. It's different.

What a great spruce up until you can redo it exactly how you want it!

I will never get over my grandmother selling the house we all grew up in. I wanted to live there forever, for as long as I can remember. Generations of family pets are buried there (there was an official pet cemetery, complete with headstones) and countless memories.

When I go to my home town I can't even bear to drive past it. If my great aunt didn't live on the same road I would never even go to that part of town.

It's been 30 years since it sold and it still hurts as much as the day it was listed.
