WOW! Great job! We have been debating what to do when we rip the carpet off our stairs and may have to give this a try!

Hi @akay. I know the concrete fireplace isn't for everyone, but it is exactly the look we were going for. The room is about 30 x 16 feet, so I don't feel like the fireplace overpowers it, but I respect the fact that many people disagree. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

Thank you @EngineerChic for your comment and for the lighting suggestions {which tells me you read my whole blog post--thank you}! We did debate removing the chair rail, but felt that it would be opening a can of worms. Have a great night!

Thank you @heirloom. I appreciate it. You definitely need to have thick skin to open yourself up to AT. Luckily, I do have thick skin, but agree that some comments at AT go far beyond constructive criticism and are just not helpful or insightful. That's not just my experience. It's true for several bloggers I know. Thanks so much for taking the time to comment. Have a great night!

Thank you @blakelover. I have pretty tough skin and can handle all of the comments, but I TOTALLY agree that there is a difference in offering a constructive comment versus being unkind and unhelpful. I didn't expect everyone to love my choices in this room, as mentioned in the first paragraph of my full blog post, so I expected some dissenters. That said, I found many of the comments constructive. Several were not. Have a fabulous night and thank you for taking the time to comment.

Thank you @The Treehouse by Dodie Goldney. If everyone had the same style and like the same things, life would be boring. I appreciate and respect a huge range of styles and finishes, the stone fireplace is just not the look I wanted in this room, which I you and some others around here understand. I am happy to hear that you can appreciate both looks and can express yourself in an articulate and constructive way. Have a great night!

Thanks so much for the thoughtful comment @textiles. We are still on the hunt for a light fixture that we love. I never thought it would be so hard to find one. Hardwood flooring was not in the budget and we have found that this high quality laminate is much more durable and scratch proof than hardwoods we have had in the past, which is useful in our house with 3-year-old twin toddlers and a 90 pound Boxer. But, I would have loved to use hardwood if we could have afforded it, since you can always refinish them down the line.

Thank you @ElleAnderson. The concrete fireplace definitely is not for everyone, but we love it. Thanks for taking the time to comment and for the compliment on the paint color and floors!
