Thank you! We did think about staining the cabinets, but felt like a dark stain (which we would have favored) would be too dark for the space. Then we learned about the durability of General Finishes Milk Paint and new we wanted to go with a gray paint. I have second-guessed the darkness of the backsplash, but we do have under cabinet lighting, which helps and I still strongly prefer it to the "before." Thanks so much for taking the time to comment!

Oh, and to answer your question, I used a stencil for the floor :)

Thank you! The floor that we painted was bamboo. The paint is holding up perfectly so far, despite scooting chairs on it and having our 90 pound Boxer run around on it!

Thank you! The lights were purchased at Target on clearance about a year ago. Sorry to say they probably sold out long ago!

Thank you! The floor definitely isn't for everyone, but we love it. Thanks so much for the compliment on the other updates!

It's holding up beautifully. We scoot chairs on it and our 90-pound Boxer runs around on it, too. No problems so far!

Hi @chellyt84. As I understand it, you can install it over any STABLE surface (i.e., an existing counter top that is not cracked, tiles that aren't cracked, etc.). So, if you counter top is structurally in good shape, this should totally work. I installed it over concrete board for my fireplace and my laminate counter tops in my laundry room (you can see my fireplace in the slideshow) and have not had any problems. My fireplace didn't even crack when we mounted the TV on it!

WOW! Great job! We have been debating what to do when we rip the carpet off our stairs and may have to give this a try!
