Not sustainable and hardly "a working garden".

i had the exact same thing-- a vintage piece. except that it had an attached table that flipped over, elongating the bed. and there was storage space under the seat. quite ingenious and smart looking, but i wanted something cozier to lay on while i vegged watching TV. I sold it for $650 on craigslist.

I'm not sure where your 10 day trip took you, but if it was in Europe, that set up is common and you shower sitting down or squatting, not standing up. My German host family went nuts every time I showered because I would soak the bathroom floor . As a 16-year old American, I hadn't yet had any experience with this style of bathing....

i've had a paper umbrella sitting in the closet for years because i can't figure out how to attach it. even if you chop off the handle, that doesn't make it any easier to attach it to the ceiling. i'm thinking it involves a lot of rigging of wires, pulleys, hooks, and such...advice?

i love the re-do. the before had absolutely no counter space and from my experience living in apartments and houses with those exact cupboards and drawers, they stick when you pull on them and some of the cupboard doors don't stay closed (from wear or warping or both?). all around an amazing and impressive transformation.

in the 70s my parents filled one of those demijohns with matchbooks they collected from restaurants and the like. ahhh, the days when people smoked indoors!

i like it.
