I've hung up my wall sculpture, and I absolutely love it. I also toted two more huge bags of stuff to the donation center. Altogether I've done less only about half of the assignments this month, yet I've made great strides in the areas where I focused my energy. A million thanks to AT for the Cure and especially to all of you who've posted such inspiring, honest, and often hilarious comments. You gave me a huge boost every day, and made my work lighter and actually fun!

I got antsy to empty my outbox, so all the stuff already went to Goodwill on Monday. What a huge relief !! You're absolutely right... putting things into the outbox really did help break the hold I had on them. I don't want anything back.

My potted flowers are still looking beautiful... glad I spent a little extra money on them at the outset, instead of having to replace wilted cut flowers every week. The potted flowers have turned out to be more frugal and more fresh.

My biggest project is a complete closet redo, and it's taking a long time, so this weekend will be fully focused there. When I did the Cure last year, I partly cleaned out the closet, then jumped around on the other assignments to keep on track with everybody, but I never fully finished the closet. I've regretted it all year... so for this Cure the closet is my primary focus and I am determined to do it right, even if I don't get around to some of the other assignments.

Apropos of today's photo... last week I bought a new ironing board cover & pad, and now I almost enjoy ironing. Even though I missed being online last night, I got a lot of reading and closet clearing and ironing done. I'm loving this Cure!

No biggie. I'll unplug and dive back into the closet project for the evening.

Tea and a one-way clothes swap with my best friend. My biggest project this month is a total closet makeover and clothing purge (I've downsized my body by 40 pounds over the past two years). My friend says she'll gladly take most of my giveaways, so we'll make a party of it on the last day of the month. Whatever's left will go to Goodwill that weekend. Win-win-win!

January Cure: Assignment # 8

My problem is I've got too much hanging on the walls and it looks cluttery. When I downsized to this smaller apartment, I was reluctant to let go of artworks so I massed them on the walls. Today I took down two big paintings and I'm loving the open space! I think I'm slowly turning into a minimalist (or maybe a midimalist), and that's not a bad thing if I choose the best of my favorites and declutter the rest. The older I get, the less stuff I want to have to take care of.
