For what it's worth, I think this is a good post. I'd never heard of eating kiwi with a spoon (and neither had my husband, parents, or many of my friends) until a few years ago when I bought a pack of them that came with a plastic knife/spoon thing and the tip to eat them that way.

Perhaps not all families ate kiwi as often and thus it was not so obvious? Perhaps a regional thing?

At any rate, I, for one, appreciate tips like these, so please keep them coming.

When I looked back at last week's lunches it was depressing. I ate out for lunch 5 of 7 days. So, my #1 goal is to limit eating out for lunch to no more than once during the work week and once on weekends. For #2 I want to include a fruit or veggie helping in every lunch and #3 I want to prep more lunches ahead of time and have some in-case-of-emergency options in my desk at work.

We just got an SSSCat. It shoots a stream of compressed air whenever the cat crosses a space within about 3 feet in front of it. So far it's been awesome! When our counter kitty, Minus, jumps up, he gets sprayed and immediately jumps back down. We've since ordered two more - one for the kitchen table and one for the microwave cart.

Refills are pricy, but from what I hear, just the presence of the canister will most likely be enough after he's been trained to avoid it.

Pinterest. I have so many recipe boards. I name each one Food: (then the descriptor) so that they all show up in my list together. I have boards for breakfast, salads, sandwiches, desserts, drinks, you name it. Then I also have boards for things we've tried and loved (The Dinner Rotation, etc.) and a board for Never Again - recipes we hated.

You can search pinterest for words in the description, then select Just My Boards to search only your own.

Made cake mix waffles for breakfast this morning - so easy but it felt really special since I got the waffle iron out on a weekday. Flash-froze the rest so we can have them again tomorrow. Should have enough for a few more breakfasts next week too.

It was my first time making these and now that I have, I realize the possibilities are endless. This time we used a butter pecan cake mix, but spice or vanilla would be good and OMG chocolate.

My goals are:
1. Find some good make-ahead breakfasts for those quick mornings.
2. Add fruit and/or veggies to every breakfast.
3. Shake up my routine with some fresh, new breakfast recipes.

Amy a la mode - I've had some tasty make-ahead breakfast burritos where you make them (including your peppers/onions/spinach/whatever), assemble, then flash freeze and individually wrap. Then you just reheat in the microwave.

Just a note on pet baths: I'd always heard that you shouldn't bathe your pet more than once a month because it can lead to itchy, dry skin. That's of course barring any immediate need for a bath (they rolled in something disgusting, got to friendly with a skunk, etc.)

While we haven't really finished any of the weekend projects, I'm really happy with what we've accomplished thanks to the cure. I've got some major guitar practice to get to tonight, but hopefully I'll be able to fit in a little cure work too!

Ha! I was just thinking, "I love that wooden crate thingy" in your lead photo. Then I got to the part where it said "Saint Louis" and was like WAIT A MINUTE! I, too, live in St. Louis. Is that crate making its way to a thrift shop or something where I can go scope it out?

This won't necessarily help now, but I like to bundle all those little freebie toys into brown paper sacks, label them boy's or girl's grab bag and sell them for 25 cents whenever I have a garage sale or booth at a flea market. It's amazing how well those bags sell, plus it gives the kids something to do while their parents shop.

Since we have company coming this weekend, I'm going to hold off on the project and focus on finishing up the kitchen and the floors (I started the cure a week late) and tidying up the bathroom. Busy night ahead!

My goal project is to install a pegboard in the kitchen to hold our pans and various other items that have a hole for a hook. So far we've purchased our board and hardware, plus paint and primer. If I can get to it this weekend, I want to at least get the board primed!

The Halfway Point!: Project Progress The January Cure: Assignment #11

Going to have the parents and my sister + fam over in mid February. Works out great since I started the cure a week late anyway. And, that means I no longer have to kill myself trying to catch up. We attempted the floors and the kitchen this weekend and finished neither. But some floors and most of the kitchen are so much better!

January Cure: Assignment # 8

This weekend is not going to be fun. I started the Cure on Wednesday, so I totally missed last weekend's floor cleaning. Thus, I've already informed the hubby that we will be cleaning them this weekend. BUT... if we're ever going to catch up, we'll need to tackle the kitchen, too. GAH! Is that even possible. Luckily my kitchen is tiny, but that means there are storage problems galore. Wish me luck!

Weekend Chores: Flowers, Kitchen Organizing & Cleaning, Make a Meal January Cure: Assignment # 7

Just stumbled upon this yesterday and made my list. Since I'm stuck at home thanks to the snow, I'm going to try to do some catch up from what I've missed of week 1. So excited! I think our biggest problem around the house is that we simply have too much stuff. I feel like I throw stuff away/donate stuff all the time, but there's still just so much. Looking forward to gaining some clarity — of mind and of home.
