I have come down with a horrible cold plus it's going to be ridiculously hot this weekend. I'm getting some lights put in on Monday, so I think I'm postponing any gathering until next weekend. Enjoy the celebration, anyone who is having a get together!

I only ever use a flat sheet on very hot nights when the duvet is too warm. The rest of the time, my duvet is all I need (I get hot at night anyway). In winter I might use a blanket on top of the duvet. I wash the duvet cover once a week with the fitted sheet so no big deal.

I've been hanging art as I go, just waiting on a few more prints to arrive. So today I think I'll move the stuff I've been collecting on the dining room table, waiting to give away to various folks into the spare room so I can make the dining table look pretty again!

I will add my thanks to Janel and all at AT. I feel like I have a whole new house (though I still have a list of projects to do throughout the year)!

Today (any minute now) I'm having a junk collection to clean out the garage where I've been stashing boxes and decluttered not-good-enough-to-donate stuff and other bits and bobs throughout the cure and way before that. Then I'll be giving it a clean and insect spraying it. Determined to be able to use it more than I have been, which means satisfying myself that it's relatively spider free : ). My goal project is done and all I really have left on my to do list is some art things, putting up some heat film on my bedroom window and (hopefully) moving the freezer into the garage. I'm getting some new lights put in but that won't happen this week. Then I just have to finish giving away things marked to give away. Oh, and figure out how to remove two very stubborn doorknobs that do not want to come off...starting to eye my hacksaw.

My living room is mostly done - the bookshelves need tidying post culling and the tv cabinet. But mostly it needs the things waiting to be given away or donated to go. So I'll do a basic clean, get a lamp and hang some art but focus on finishing the spare room because after that is done, I can get the junk collection and the last donation collection organised for next week. Yay! I've done almost everything on my initial list plus a few things I added along the way. It's like a whole new house : )

I have been culling books, dvds and cds throughout the process this month. Gave away two boxes of dvds and cds last week and four boxes of books and will have another 8-10 boxes of books by the end of the weekend I think. Only have books in the spare room left to go. But I do want to find a cd binder or two that will also fit the inserts and put most of the cds in those so I can use the shelf space to display other things and make some empty space. I cull books every so often but this time was more ruthless. Trying to only keep favourites and books I'm likely to read again. Even some of those I got rid of once I'd checked there was an ebook if I did get the urge to read again. Books are my downfall, so have to be tough!

I do this every so often and just did a big one a little while ago when I bought some new makeup organisers and have been keeping it organised since then. So I guess I will make sure everything is dusted etc but just keep working on the spare room.

I moved my bedroom powerboard to the other side of the bedside table where it's hidden from sight (why did this never occur to me before) this morning (and discovered a cord for who knows what attached). Tonight I tackle the scary jungle under the desk. And label the TV unit cords which are pretty neat already but labels would be handy. The only other problem cord is my freezer but as I'm planning to move that out to the garage once all this is done and I get the decluttered stuff removed from the garage, that's not a big deal.

The big sort out of these will have to wait until after everything else is finished. Mostly because my files are buried in my spare room disaster area. That's what I'm working on this year. But I have been collecting all papers in one place during the cure. Sigh. I'm always good for the first few months of the financial year but then things slide. But once I'm sorted out this time, I'll restart the system. I've just realised though that over the years I've converted almost all my bills to online statements except my banks and credit cards and I don't know why. Sure, I'll have to download them for the accountant but that's not exactly hard. So today I'm going to do that much!

I thought this would take all weekend but I got it done in a few hours Friday night and yesterday! Yay! Many bags of clothes and shoes and handbags donated, under the bed it clear, though I might put some winter clothes under there. Today I'm putting up a few hooks to hang a new scarf hanger on and some for necklaces. Then all that is left is hanging some new prints, two of which haven't arrived yet. But I might put the one that has up anyway.

I finished mine. Assembled 3 cabinets to group together along the back of my couch to form a storage and extra table space for my office area. Packed a lot of stationery and things I use into the drawers and it's all set up and looks good. So I think today I will seal up some of the boxes of stuff I've been collecting to donate (first donation collection organised for Monday) and get a jump start on my bedroom - closet, shoe, handbag purging, here we come. Oh and dealing with the book mountain that has grown on the floor.
Loving the cure, my place feels twice as big already!

The Halfway Point!: Project Progress The January Cure: Assignment #11

I have a step straight into living room/office house too. Already have a doormat outside the door and a small rug inside the door.
But I'm putting up a nice hook for the bag I use to take lunch etc to work in on one of my bookcases and I've put a pretty plate on my console table to put mail in (hoping that the fact that mail blocks the prettiness will make me sort it into the file tray on my desk quickly). I've ordered a mail holder to stash mags in until I read them. I've always had a nice basket by the door for recycling so already toss the junk mail immediately. Am considering a hook on the front door for hanging coat in winter. Sometimes I'm good about taking it into the bedroom to hang up but sometimes it just gets laid over a chair, so hopefully that will stop that. And I have a hook in my bedroom for the handbag that I'm using. Not sure if I have room for a mirror near the entry, will have to ponder that one! So my landing strip is a little spread out but my place is small, so it's not such a big deal.

I have a temporary outbox, though so far have been happy enough to toss things. I ordered a laundry basket to put in my spare room as a permanent one but my grocery delivery flaked out and forgot it. But I'll buy it this weekend.

I actually framed a print I'd had for about two years on the weekend and hung it. But doing that made me rethink the art in the house as some of it has been up for 10 years and so I've ordered a few more prints and will be getting a couple of my photos printed as well. So am about to commence the great frame hunt...

Mine is to assemble the cabinets I'm going to use as a console behind the sofa in my shared lounge office to add some storage space for office stuff and get my printer off the box it's been sitting on for way too long!
