I often change out the art in my rooms for a new feel and colors too with pillows, bed covers and curtains. Many people still have alarm clocks; many people do not have smartphones and the like... many!

5 Simple Ways to Make Your Bedroom Feel New

Perfecting timing! The January Cure has made me do all kinds of things and last night I completed my bedroom-- the vacuuming, dusted and wiped blinds, changed curtains, (finally put the beautiful seven piece comforter set on the bed), so I have a head start. The purging of excess clothing is my biggest job. I don't like getting rid of my clothing. Slowly, I am working on this but I'm always thinking I will wear that again (and most of the time, I do).

Love using bags to organize my stuff. Easy, inexpensive and found in light and heavyweight. I color coordinate them. When I have dry cleaning, store returns, etc. I can bag them and leave near the door even if they are not going out the very next day.

I've worked on this before and sometimes things go awry though if I get crazy busy. How I long for a foyer but the reality is, as soon as I enter my little house, I'm in the living room. At the door is a decorative coat tree where I put my jacket & purse; hat but I also have three decorative hooks on the wall next to the door. These hooks may hold a light bag of things I want to take with me on the way out of the house or a visitor's jacket/purse. My shelf just 6 feet away has an pretty decorative container where I put my keys and cell phone. Boots or sneakers go on the bottom step to go up when I finally head upstairs. Mail has one spot on the shelf and before or after dinner I sort it by importance; bills get paid immediately; junk mail goes to recycling. There are certain times when I stay up late to get things done because I feel crummy surrounded by junk/mess/crap all over the place. So many good tips from these comments. Thanks.

The Clutter Filter: Create a Landing Strip January Cure: Assignment 9

The January Cure has been so motivating for me! I've been on a whirlwind since before Christmas and then found the January Cure. Yippeeee! Fortunately I tackled some kitchen cleaning every night starting two weeks ago and can get to this deeper kitchen cleaning this weekend. The top of the cabinets are filled with various pots and pans I do not use (I think I will post them on Craigslist since they are all good items). Months ago I stopped buying too much food. I now use everything food item before I go buy more. Too bad if I don't really want that salmon or chicken-- I must eat it. This also makes me take lunch to the office and save $$$$.

There are too many lids to plastic containers and the matching bowls are nowhere to be found so I will throw away the useless lids. I'm not ready to discard non-matching cups and bowls though-- I hate to throw useable dishes away.

Thanks for the tips on cleaning certain parts of the dishwasher-- I just started using a dishwasher about five years ago and it is wonderful! The stove hood thingy I'll check out tonight and hope it is not scary gross.

I put a green plant out in a pretty vase opposed to buying flowers because I'm a penny pincher.

I love reading all of your positive comments, suggestions and experiences. Have a good day.
