I do string cheese and an apple, after my usual cup of English tea.

My grandmother still makes the "Toffee Bars" (or are they Toffee Squares?) from the 1963 Betty Crocker Cooky Book about once a week. Yes, cooky with a "y".
They're pretty much the best cookies ever, and are typically much more attractive than the picture from the actual book!

(though forget milk chocolate, you really want a good semi- or bitter-sweet)

We have several prints by First Nations artists in British Columbia (Including one by this artist: https://www.coastalpeoples.com/index.php?mpage=artist&aid=129&page=1) that are really striking black and white images.
We had them framed with bright red matting and black frames. Though they were just inexpensive prints, and framing/matting cost vastly more than they're technically worth, they look amazing and have become our most treasured art pieces.

Pork chile verde!! We'll probably also do some homemade tortillas to go along with it.

I'm kind of falling off the Cure wagon, but hopefully I can rally for the last few days.....

I had to vastly scale back on my goals for the big project. It was supposed to be completely cleaning out and re-organizing the entry-way closet, that is kind of a mash-up of utility type stuff, luggage, coats/hats/shoes. Ughhhhhh. Unfortunately, any really good, clever solutions to the jumble would require more permanent steps than I'm willing to take for a rental whose lease is up in a few months. I settled for just tidying and weeding out unnecessary stuff, and it definitely functions better now, but it was disappointing.

It would also be nice if I could call the office/guest room done, but unfortunately, there's a hole in the wall from where the handyman needed to access some plumbing lines. I wonder if he'll ever come back to fix that? Oh, the joys of renting....sigh....

I'll just do tidying catch up today, and plan to get the art pieces framed. That's a fun task, right?

I made these last night (while my boyfriend looked at me like I was crazy), and sadly, they weren't very good.
I mean, no one is going to turn down warm, right-out-of-the-oven cookies, but yeah, they weren't super tasty.
I agree with sberry: just make a whole batch of really good cookie dough, portion out the dough and freeze it, then bake off two at a time. I'm partial to the Cook's Illustrated recipe, myself.

I've got to join the ranks of those refusing to buy cut flowers. I'm in New England and it's January. The flowers are going to be flown in from some other continent. I don't buy produce that's been shipped that far, so I don't think I want to do it for a non-necessity.
I see the point, though, of having something fresh and beautiful around the house. Perhaps I'll move my cute little succulent pots to the dining table. My mom made them as centerpieces for my cousin's wedding, a couple of months ago. They were from her garden.

Other than that, I'm excited about the kitchen tasks. I've been wanting to tackle the "Island of Lost Toys" for ages. It's the cupboard in the kitchen that doesn't have any shelves, so it becomes the dumping ground for anything awkward or seldom-used. The spices need some serious attention, too.

Cleaning the floors ended up lasting until Tuesday (plumbing emergency over the weekend), so I'll start small--guest room: put the futon back into "couch position" and shred all the paperwork piling up.
