When we bought our 100+ year old house I thought it smelled weird from the previous owners - they had a dog and cats. I thought we cleared the smell out but every once in awhile when we come home from a trip I get a slight whiff of it and feel so defeated. My husband hates scented candles so my solution during the winter (when I can't open windows) has been to put a few drops of tea tea oil and eucalyptus oil in a pot of water on the stove and let it simmer for awhile. It makes the house smell great and I believe in the antiviral properties too!
