I have no entry way either. Front door opens straight into a small living room but as a family we use the back door into the kitchen.

When I redid the kitchen I added a tall cupboard opposite the door for coats. It would probably hold more but unfortunately this is the only place I can house the vacuum cleaner (it really needs to go elsewhere)

The kitchen leads into the dining room via a kind of archway. Shoes and bags used to get dumped into the corner of this room nearest the door. To stop that happening I have moved a sideboard I already had on that wall into the corner and made it into a sort of landing strip. Bags go in the sideboard and shoes go underneath it. It kind of works. I have also used an old jewellery box as a holder for keys and change.

Just doing a review now to see what else I can add.

I bought some spray paint a while back to paint the computer desk - so going to get that done.

I love the idea of an exchange box.

For my part I have no spare space in the house so I think I am going to store items in the boot of my car. I already do this anyway but I am going to make it more formal and site a specific plastic outbox in the boot.
Stuff can then be easily be transported to the charity shop when I am ready to let go and it will also force me to limit the time things hang about as I dont want to be transporting loads of extra stuff about in my car for long periods of time.

All tasks are complete and I am eagerly awaiting the next step. Pity I am in the UK and it is already mid-morning - wake up USA!!
I had friends round on Saturday and one of them commented on the flowers next to the basin in the bathroom - a jam jar of yellow roses. I bought some mixed bunches in the reduced aisle and split them up into single colours. Vases of pink, yellow and red roses are distributed through the house and it does indeed make a difference.
