i say ignore the whole nailing issue (especially when you rent, yikes!) and use 3M hangers. They come in all sizes, are easily removed when your done, and I've used them to hang things as large as a 16lb whiteboard to the wall with no problems.

I've been buying this stuff in bulk for years. Not only does it make excellent pancakes, but it's the best multi-purpose baking mix I've come across. Take a look at the Pamela's website listed in the article - it also provides a TON of recipes using their mixes.

My husband's favorite are sausage queso balls for appetizers at get-togethers. Mix 1 jar commercial queso with 1lb of sausage with 3 cups of Pamela's mix. Roll into balls and bake at 350 for about 10-15 minutes.

this stuff also makes EXCELLENT gravy and rouxs (rouxes?). just use in place of flour.

May I suggest Kiva, (www.kiva.org) which is a micro-loan organization? The money get's sent to an individual or group of your choosing then is paid back gradually over time (and can then be given again and again). It's a great thing for kids.

Method's dishwasher tablets are my favorite, they work just as well as other brands and they come in a really awesome grapefruit scent.

Both my husband and mother-in-law have celiac. The last few (3-5ish) years have gotten so much better than before, now even chain restaurants like Olive Garden and Eat n' Park (OH, PA, WV) have dedicated gluten free menus. My church offers gluten-free host during communion. Betty Crocker even has a gluten-free line - which is a huge source of amusement for my family considering that having a GF household requires most "boxed" things be nixed.

Totally agree about the Pamela's mixes. With a little tweaking they pancake mix can be substituted for most cake-like recipes (cakes, biscuits, loaf-breads, etc). I tend to buy it in bulk from Amazon - it'll keep for about a year, you can get free shipping, and I tend to go through it pretty frequently.

The guide was great and we got to visit several really unique restaurants and bars in the French Quarter. It's really highly recommended.
