Kids consignment sales are a HUGE deal here in the St. Louis area. They're simply awesome. You can find some great deals on gently used (and sometimes new!) items. There are usually 3 or 4 of them in the spring and fall. And that's just within 10 minutes of my house! For a drive, there are plenty more! I can't say enough good things about these sales.

I am so-so on this highchair.

Pros: Affordable, fairly easy to clean, easy to store/transport

Cons: Straps are only at the waist and loosen easily with a squirmy child. We sometimes have to re-tighten the straps mid-meal if it's a longer one.

I'm a stay at home mom and the first one of my friends to have a child. I joined a stroller fitness class in my area to meet other stay at home moms and get in shape.

It's worked! I've made some new friends and I'm working on introducing myself to a whole new me!

selena - which city series? mini or elite? My husband and I are looking at the Mini but are unsure. None of the stores in our area have one to go look at, so we're going on reviews and video.

Keep in mind that diaper services generally only offer prefolds. if you want to use pockets, you will have to wash yourself.

if you want to try out the g diapers, i have some that i am willing to sell. we tried them and ended up not being a fan. we use bum genius one size instead. love them!

Baby Harper would LOVE this stylish highchair. AND! It would put an end to my agonizing about which high chair to get! (*coughcoughget=affordcoughcough*)

Only AT can prevent ugly highchairs from happening to happening babies!

Our Costco (St. Louis area) has had them for a while now. They're a trip to see in the stores.

They appear to be shipped on a large cardboard flat. We like them and as long as the carton can still be recycled, i'm all for it. The downside is that you are practically crawling into the fridge case to get them out because the flats tehy're shipped on are so massive.

The pic is probably showing samples at one of the wholesale warehouses.... which is fodder for a whole different rant on waste and lollygagging.

My husband and I were ecstatic to receive for Christmas, a whole batch of the original Little People for our little girl. We had recently purchased Mr. Hooper's Store from a thrift shop and had no little people to speak of for the set.

The ones his sister found for us are so old that there are even some wooden ones included. Now that's vintage!

When I was growing up, we always opened gifts on Christmas morning.

Probably the most memorable gift I ever received was my Heart-to-Heart bear. A stuffed bear that featured a battery operated heart that actually beat. You could feel and hear it.

This gift was so important to me that I still have it 23 years later. (And let's be honest -sometimes it is still by my bedside...)

My husband even found a like-new one on ebay and surprised me with it when we found out we were pregnant. (Due any day now!)

Pictures of the old and new Heart-to-Heart bears can be seen here: http://www.lammlelounge.com/?p=43

There was a post about a "paper towel alternative" a while back on one of the AT sites. The product they recommend is actually more like a sponge than a paper towel. I can't remember what they're called, but you can find them at Whole Foods for only $2 for 3 of them. They can be sanitized in the dishwasher until you feel they've lived a long enough life.

Then they're biodegradable!

I'm working on it as fast as I can!

Husband and I spent the weekend working like mad in the nursery. My personal goal is to have pics to submit by the end of the week for the contest.

Like several others, we decided to stop preventing and let what is supposed to happen, happen. We'd discussed that we felt we were ready. So figured we should go for it.

I took a bajillion tests and they all came back negative. Finally one night (it was a Wednesday, Lost was on. :) ) I took one and the result was blurry. Inconclusive is what the box said... so I decided to take another one in the morning.

Stumbling out of bed in the wee hours of the morning, I went ahead and did the test...(I was in the bathroom anyhow..)

I came back to bed to find my husband awake and looking at me, "Well?"

I was so groggy that I mumbled something about "Oh, I don't know... the negative line is there, and there's something else, but I don't know... lets just go back to sleep."

I woke up an hour or so later and checked the test (which I had thrown away.) Sure enough... a faint plus sign was there.

I called him and said "I think it's postive?!" He instructed me to go out and buy the most expensive one I could find. I went with digital and sure enough... I was pregnant. We're due at the end of the year.

Another funny story is how I told my parents. When I was little, I couldn't say "surprise" it came out "Curprise." I made my mom a toddler t-shirt that said curprise on it and gave it to her as an early mother's day gift. She looked at it and said, "Oh... that's cute." I knew by her face that she didn't know what I meant by it. I just replied with, "I'm 5 weeks along." She screamed and hugged me and then confessed, "I thought it was for the dog..."

My father was half asleep when I called to tell him so he didn't know what was going on. He called me two hours later and just said, "Are you with child?"

My baby is due in 3 months, but I already have a deep love for Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends.

That's about it when it comes to current TV. I'm stocking up on the Fraggle Rock, Muppet Show, Peanuts and Pixar DVDs for when my little one is ready to watch. (In about 2 years or more...)

Oh! And I forgot... Seasame Street will always have a special place in my heart. I still have a couple of tapes my parents made for me when I was a kid. They'd make an entire tape of episodes so I could watch it regardless of what time or day.

Where did you get your crib?

I love, love, LOVE the large collection of books you have in Roman's room. My husband and I are expecting our first at the end of the year, and we've been collecting books since I was 5 weeks pregnant... we're both heavy readers (we met while working at Borders) and look forward to sharing our favorite books with our daughter.

Btw, for a great laugh check out "the boy who looked like Lincoln." hilarous.

If you live near a small embroidery shop, head over there and ask them about bella baby. I happen to work for a privately owned embroidery shop and we're always willing to help people out when they're looking for particular pieces.

If you don't end up finding anything, let me know. I may be able to help you out.

Bella baby, Rabbit Skins and yes, American Apparel are all commonly used places for screen printers and embroiderers for plain clothes ready for customization.

Hope this helps!
