The grey's are Valspar Chromium (the lighter) and Pewter (the darker) in a semi-gloss. The lighter grey has much more of a bluer tone than I expected, but the darker wall helps balance it out.

I got one from America's Thrift Store. The other two I got from my friend Kristen. She is also to thank for the Walk / Don't Walk Sign. I don't do much thrift store shopping or antiquing, but when she offered to give them away I quickly took them off her hands.

I try to keep things clean and simple and graphic but throwing in some vintage character is always a plus to compliment it.

I only have one print, but if you send me your email address I will be more than happy to scan the photo and email you a high res image of it for you to print out yourself.

No need to pay me for anything.

I got pretty lucky on finding these baskets at a Thrift store and a then a good friend gave me 2 more, I use the others to hold records. You can see it in the office photos of the house tour.

They are vintage "locker baskets" if you search on ebay or etsy you can find them, they can be over priced though, considering I paid about two dollars for them.

I used two 50 pound picture hangers for each basket and I haven't had a problem with them staying up.

The lights are from target, they are an indoor / outdoor lights. I did get them in November when the Christmas stuff was out, so I'm not sure if they only carry them seasonally. The bulbs are replaceable which is great. I would check the garden / outdoor section.

The fire pit was actually a hand me down from my Aunt. It was rusted pretty bad. I wire brushed it down and spray painted with high heat spray paint. Good as new. I'm sure a local nursery carries them.

The orange pillows I bought a few apartments ago...I think they may have been really old pottery barn pillows. I'm not 100% sure. I checked the labels, and they had no information...Sorry!

Thanks so much for the furniture suggestion! It is great looking...What color did you go with for your place? Are the color swatches online pretty accurate? Are you happy with the quality?

I took the parking meter photo in a photography class when I was at LSU. There is something about parking meters, sewer covers, and traffic lights. I really like how industrial yet graphic they are.

Little Lulu:
The office and the bedroom are quite small, about 10’ x 10’ and each only has one window. Both have low ceilings as well. So I would gauge off of how you feel those 2 rooms are working with the grey. If you are going MODERN then I would say gray could work for you, especially if your goal is to keep things very simple. You may also want to look at some grey tones with a light blue or even a sand undertone.

Two suggestions: Get the the sample can of paint, and paint a spot in the room. Grey is very tricky and can vary greatly on the natural and artifical light of the room, even what types of light bulbs you use will make a difference ( I go with the GE Full spectrum frosted lights) Secondly, trying matting your photography with large white mattes to break up some of the grey in the walls.

The kitchen is quite small, its behind the bar set up in picture number 28 of the tour. It can’t fit that many people, but it’s a great spot to set up shop for a bar as people come and go from the living room to the patio.

I actually made the liquor bottles. I just found some really nice glass water bottles, scraped off all the labels, created stencils for the letters and spray painted them on. Then I bought some drink pourers to top them off. VERY EASY

Okay, here is the secret. It’s a 20 dollar light from Ikea…

You can find it here…

I suggest hard-wiring it with a dimmer.

I visit Apartment Therapy Daily and I am constantly amazed and inspired by the level of design in people’s homes. I was very humbled when Aaron asked if I would be interested in doing a house tour. I am now even MORE humbled to read all of your comments. I appreciate the kind words, I really do....

Here are the answers to previous questions...If you have any more PLEASE don’t hesitate to ask.

Thanks again guys

The paint is Lowe’s Valspar paint in Chromium (the lighter) and Pewter (the darker) both in semi-gloss.

The desk is a MIKAEL desk from IKEA.

All I did was take 2 pieces of black matte board from a local hobby / craft store and nailed them to the back. Then cut out small holes for the wires so everything stays neat and concealed behind the board.

All the living room furniture (couch, 2 chairs, end tables, and coffee table) was left by the owner. So they will do for now.

Does anyone have any recommendations for furniture in this room? I do like the set up of a couch and 2 chairs, but I am definitely open to suggestions. Also any suggestions for the kitchen table? I would like to have something that seats 4 but can maybe extend to seat 6 if need be...

The bathroom shelf was already there...

The bench itself was already there. I made three separate covers for it. VERY EASY! Went to Lowes, got one sheet of large plywood and had them cut it down to three equal pieces (free of charge). Then, cut 2 inch foam to size, covered it with heavy batting and fabric and staple gunned it all to the plywood. The bench has storage built in, so I just take the cushion off the top when I need to get something.

The setlists pictured: Top Row (l to r): The Flaming Lips and Coldplay (my friend Brandi’s favorite band) Bottom Row: (l to r) Radiohead and Interpol

EmilyAClark / Ckattel:

The piece above the couch is an original that I did, it’s actually color laser 11x17 print outs tiled and mounted on a giant board.

The 3 piece mural was done by an LSU Design Professor his site is

The doormat I found online, you can find it here:

When I chose the paint colors I knew I would have bring color in from other places, I likes how neutral the gray. I can easily change the colors in the house up without having to worry about it clashing with the walls.

I would recommend adding more color, and let the grey walls just be the canvas for everything. Maybe get larger colorful pieces as well ....My walls are covered mostly with artwork so the grey isn’t as harsh. When there was nothing on the walls the rooms looked larger but also, like you said, very cold. Maybe get some blank canvas and go to town with painting them bold colors.

Hey Guys, thanks for all the comments, the wall colors are Valspar's Chromium (Lighter Gray) and Pewter (Darker Gray) in Semi-Gloss. The wall clock is the Metropolis clock from CB2. The racks in the bathroom were a thrift store find, if anyone knows where to find something similar please let me know. They are great, and would love to have more.
