I know you are anti-gray, but this probably isn't the room to suddenly change what you love so much in the rest of the house. You already gravitate to gray, stick with it. If you pick something similar to the slate blue/gray you have, it will create a neutral background for accessories and shower curtain.

You can get huge pieces of shower board (8'x4') at Lowes or Home Depot for under $14. As is, it functions like a giant whiteboard (just not magnetic). And you could probably wallpaper the back of it.

I love the skeleton table! I would use that somewhere in my home.

I think the shelving looks very "Ikea" because it looks like pieces of MDF glued together. If you added moulding to them, either at the top or on each shelf, it would change the look drastically. And that would be way cheaper than replacing the shelves with actual wooden units of comparable size. Something like this: or adding moulding to each door itself like this, if your diy skills would allow it:

Jewel tones are like deeper shades of colors (except for blue since primary blue reads like a jewel tone). Treat it like you would anything else on the color wheel.

I like the idea behind it, but I think these patterns are too busy. I cannot picture a whole wall of this stuff, never mind an entire room.

Don't paint it. The upkeep is never-ending. Find a color that does what you want to the wood and paint it on the walls. To pull out reddish-brown tones, paint your walls a bright blue or green. A white or very light green or blue will make the wood pop without making the wood more red-toned.

I'm the same way. I eventually got tested for Asthma, came up as having it (at 25 years old). I wasn't getting quality sleep, so I was always tired.

It doesn't help that I just bought a 100+ year old house that has allergens galore, but I'm tackling one issue at a time.

I think people assume that the OP is throwing her list at people demanding them to buy things for her. I don't think that's the case. Some families enjoy shopping for presents. Some do not. My in-laws for example, never really celebrated Christmas. Now that they do, they really like having a solid list of things to pull from. Also, my brother hates shopping, it's a huge source of anxiety for him. So if he has a list, he goes to Amazon and gets a gift shipped to him. He doesn't have to deal with the holiday crowds then.

If your family doesn't do lists, don't give them lists. If your family has *begged* for lists, it isn't rude, it's helpful.
