I have a corsican crib also, very similar to this one but in an iron color and without the canopy. I love mine and hope to pass it down to my kids as an heirloom.

I love this room - probably my favorite ever! The colors are calming and cheerful without being too bright. Can you shed some light on the fabric pattern names? I looked online at Childress fabric but didn't find that cute cowboy pattern or the damask.

Super sweet, simple and pretty. This is one of my favorite room tours ever on this site. I love the hanging white lights and what you did with them.

I don't know what age this is meant for, but my 2-yo would in no way be fooled or entertained by this. Without digital pictures or moving images that you can manipulate, I think tots will totally know the difference!

I think these are interesting observations- especially troubling about the infant mortality rate.
But I think we should look closer at the maternity leave issue. 6 months maternity leave with pay sounds good. But seriously, who do we expect to pay for it? It costs money to pay a maternity leave replacement and continue paying salary. These advantages found in Canada and other countries are great, but there is a cost.
If you are happy to pay about 48% of your income in taxes (as in Norway) this kind of leave becomes more feasible. I'm all for a very long leave, as I think it helps mothers, but there has to be a trade-off somehow. I do think it's impossible to expect to have it all, meaning both a career that advances continually upward while having sufficient time to be a mother, and get someone else to pay for it.

What I find strange is that most of the people who picked a very popular name at the time claim to be surprised their chosen name made it to the top of the list.
Do people not realize that things like baby names creep into our collective consciousness through things like movies, tv shoes, or other media? For example, if it's hip again to read classic literature (and thereby discover old names like Emma again) or picking an old-fashioned name is a response to the made-up name trend, tons of other folks are jumping on that train too, not just you!
What's more, name data is so readily available, I have a hard time imagining not being able to see a trend on the rise...like "Isabella" or other Italian-sounding girls' names that have taken top spot for years now.

Wow, that previous venomous post from "you have no clue" really seems to prove the point of the previous commenters: "Do us all a favor and shop elsewhere"? Not sure if it's smart to tell that to such wide audience as the one that reads apartment therapy!
