Well, I've COMPLETELY fallen off the January Cure wagon, however, I've spent more time this month really looking at my space and deciding how I want my home to be, and now I have a pretty great list of assignments to get to when I do have time. There was just no way to get all of this done in a month for me, especially since I've spent very little of my weekends (the BIG assignment days!) not at home!
I'll probably be done around March, at which time I'll be signing another year lease on this apartment and hopefully getting a wall painted a nice bright teal!
One step at a time, though...

The Assignment We've All Been Waiting For The January Cure: Assignment 18

Well, I have to admit that I haven't been able to keep up with the January cure very well (I never did get all the floors done) but I have definitely been doing a little bit at a time, and taken notes and bookmarked some blogs and really been getting mentally motivated to tackle my projects. So far, I've cleaned the kitchen (it didn't need much organizing,) kept the bedroom clean, bought a vacuum that actually works (and done chunks of the apartment as I'm able to move things. I sort of have an out-box system; my landing strip is minimal but works well for me; and today's assignment is something I've been meaning to do for AGES.
I don't keep a lot of paperwork these days - all of my finances are taken care of online, but I have a file box that's disorganized and full of things I probably don't even need to keep, plus NO system for any other new paperwork that makes its way into the apartment!
I won't get to it tonight, or maybe even this week, but I figure by March I should be pretty well cured!
BTW I'm completely blown away at those of you handling all of this with an entire house, much less one with kids and pets. I've probably got it easy!

Less Mess & Stress: Getting Your Paperwork & Files Organized January Cure: Assignment # 13

Well, my tiny kitchen isn't CLEAN, but it is mostly organized. I'll do a good scrubbing, and finally get the rest of the shelf liners put in all the cabinets! I seem to have so much to do away from the house this weekend, though. I never did finish all the floors.. but I'm trying not to be so hard on myself because the Cure is still motivating me to really get around to the clutter that's been bugging me for months, even if I'm not really doing a great job of staying on schedule!

I'm a framer, too, and I have a load of things I need to get done for myself! I have two gorgeous antique photos that are matted and hanging temporarily on the wall, but not in frames yet. I'll make sure that's on my list for this month!

Hi Carol! I am a custom picture framer, and I have a couple of suggestions for your small photos! For starters, 3x3 frames DO exist, as do those that are larger with a mat. Michael's usually has an endcap with their mini frames, some of which are square, but also be sure to check all of their seasonal decor aisles. Keep an eye out and you will find them!
Otherwise, your collage idea would work, either use photo corners or archival adhesive to attach to some kind of background (I'd suggest photo-corners and an acid-free matboard cut to a standard frame size) or you can have mats custom cut with multiple openings in the correct sizes. Bring your pictures to your local frame shop for more ideas!
Another thing to consider is to make copies/scans to frame, and keeping the originals stored in acid-free albums or boxes. That way, you can cut and paste the copies to your heart's content without compromising the originals.
One fun thing I have in my apartment is fabric-covered steel sheets (12x12, found at Home Depot) and tiny magnets for displaying snapshots, photo booth strips, postcards, and the like. Have fun with your photos!

10 Mindful Minutes: Get a Fresh Perspective January Cure: Assignment #3

I'm currently feeling like I'll NEVER get the floors all done! There is simply too much STUFF on the floors at the moment.
I live in a small apartment, so unless I'm in the bedroom (which is actually the cleanest place in my home,) anywhere I sit has a clear view of nearly the entire flat. I had trouble focusing on one small area without getting distracted by the rest of the clutter. My dining/living/computer-study/art-studio is all one big rectangle room, and all of the furniture currently lines the walls, so I'm trying to come up with something else I can do with the space, and still have flow and room for everything I need. It may take longer than January, but I do like that the Cure is forcing me to finally face all of these things I need to sort through and pare down!
Does anyone have suggestions for a long, narrow, multi-use room that separates the space without blocking views or walkways? I'm thinking I might look for a round or oval rug to delineate my "living room" from my work spaces.

I had to get a new vacuum that actually worked, plus had away-from home obligations this weekend, so I'm way behind on the floors! The bedroom is nice and clean though, and since 90% of my project list involves decluttering/clearing out all the piles of stuff inhibiting my vacuuming flow, I think I can catch up by focusing on one area of floor/piles at a time, clearing out and then vacuuming. The whole apartment in one weekend (in its current state) was a little overzealous this go-round.
I'm happy to have this motivation to finally tackle things, even if I do complete it in a slightly different order. Happy curing!

I'm going to echo some of the above: I think weekends are great for one-day DIY projects, simple organization tips, and maybe some unique entertaining ideas/recipes/activities!

Well, someone bought me flowers on NYE which still look great, but I'll pick up more when I do grocery shopping on Monday.
I absolutely HATE vacuuming, and I am going to be spending all day shoving piles of clutter around to vacuum under them, but I guess that's the point. Here I go!
