Nap is serious business in my house. EVERYONE naps. My 4 yr old, 2 dogs and my husband and I. We work from home. I have a nap sign on the front door. We all work better in bursts of energy and like to stay up late. I am more productive if I work later in to the night. It is kinda weird because we have ALWAYS planned outings around nap time and rarely miss them. My daughter ASKS for naps even though she knows her same age friends don't take them anymore.

My daughter doesn't like the pink sparkly stuff either. EVERYTHING from sneakers to soccer balls, to bicycles has pink and sparkles. Her room has this orange with cream. I LOVE this room!!!

I couldn't keep my 2 yr old out of the pantry, even with safety locks so I did this with snacks and plastic cutlery and plates. She has self control, but does try to push it sometimes. She is 4 now and uses the raisons to make "raison soup" in her play kitchen.

I love the idea of these. We got these for our daughter but it doesn't stay up on our walls very well. She loves it, anyway.

I'm 42 yrs old, and growing up my mom didn't allow soda. We only got it at someone else's home. I never grew a taste for it. It tasted too sweet. I still have only had a soda when travelling out of the country and the water is iffy. I sometimes forget to buy it when having a party or get together because I am so used to not even thinking about it.

I could not decided on a rocker before my daughter was born, and just had a daybed in her nursery. It turned out she hated rocking or even swaying, so a glider or rocker was never needed. We hung out a lot on the daybed.

I Love Ikea. I could not wait until my daughter could use Smaland. She is very short for her age, was completely potty trained and could talk, but was too short. Now she can go in and I can shop, but she loves to go with me also. It is a nice evening outing when it gets dark at 5ish and we have 3 hours to kill before bed time. I am one of those moms who don't put my daughter in a stroller or cart. I let her walk, but she is not out of control. I WANT her to have the exercise. She stays right next to me. I purposely don't buy everything I need at every visit, or buy only the things I need for 1 specific project, so we can go back. Our Ikea is never crowded, we even went on the opening day, hardly anyone there.

Go back to Ikea and get the desk top clear plastic top sold in the home organization section. Ohdeedoh featured it as a large place mat for the table. I bought it for the exact purpose, to cover my daughter's Ikea desk top.

I second a rocking chair. I fretted over which one to buy before my baby was born and couldn't decide. She HATED to be cuddled, snuggled or rocked or held much. I never bought one. Glad too.

He is so cute. I had to comment because of his eye color. Are they grey? My daughter has grey eyes and it is so cool looking.

Nutshell Library, I HAVE to have that for my little girl. I have a copy of Chicken Soup with Rice my mom checked out of the public library in 1974 and never returned. It was and is my favorite childhood book.

LOVE THIS ROOM!!! I guess because it is ALMOST identical to my daughter's nursery. Same furniture, white curtains Poang chair and Ikea furniture and orange and green color scheme, only reversed. The accent wall is that bright green and the orange is the accent color. I knew I was having a girl, but hate pastels.

Judiau- Who are you to speak for "most parents"? Yes, it seems like a lot of things in life given are a waste of resources, but parties are for kids and a lot of people like to give and receive party favors, however inexpensive, as a way to share in the celebration.

I had a hard time with this same question as all the guests at my daughter's party were also just 1. I went with the chintzy, probably made in China also, party favors. I saw on sale at CVS small beach pails and water toys wrapped in netting in the dollar section. I added bubbles and small packets of Snickadee snacks, re-tied the netting with ribbon and a tag made on the computer. The parents said it was a GREAT idea and got lots of compliments as most of the kids used the beach toys in the bath tub.

This is a cute idea. I've been thinking of putting in a Dutch door on my daughter's playroom. Not to keep her in, but to keep the dogs out. The playroom is really small and the dogs like to go in there and lounge and take up space which aggravates my daughter. I thought a Dutch door would be good because she can open it herself, as opposed to a safety gate, and I can see her in there. She will feel like she is in a playhouse. If anyone has other suggestions, I'm interested.

This is a great idea. I used a plastic covered hors d'oeuvres dish, like for taking veggies and dip to a pot luck I bought at Wal-mart, to store all the little bottle nipples, pacifiers, and bottle travel lids in when my daughter was a baby.
