I'm from DeKalb, Illinois. It's amazing the places you see the "flying ear of corn" DeKalb genetics sign. I once saw one on the side of a barn in Maui. It looks great in this room, too! Bryson's Peaceful Pad and Guestroom My Room |

AT, I can't describe how great/crucial the floor plans are for these Small Cool entries! They really set the stage for how to use space efficiently. Could you extend this feature into the regular apartment tours? Diana's Exposed Brick Bonus Small Cool Contest |

Thank you for including a floor plan!!!! I know not everyone is interested in this, but most design types like to know the general layout of a place while they're looking at photos of it. It helps tie everything together. So, thanks! Hope's Relaxed & Easy Modern Home House Tour |

Alright, this is beautiful! It's too bad the industrial designers at the major camera companies can't seem to figure out that this-- not a rounded plastic clamshell from the future--is what a camera should look like. DigiLomo Camera: The Homemade Lomography Camera |

how about booze? I've made Julia Child's french onion soup several times, and it is finished with cognac. You would not believe the difference! Probably not for every soup, though. Dull Soup? Fix It With Just One Ingredient |

ok, I think there's some confusion here. The stainless steel "shell" is filled with a phase change material. Phase change materials are nothing new, water would be one example that would tend to hold a liquid at 32 degrees F, Chocolate is another one that would hold a liquid at about 98 degrees F. Whatever is inside these beans converts from a solid to liquid at 140 degrees F. During that "phase change" it stays at a constant temperature while absorbing or releasing a LOT of energy. So when you put the bean in your 180 degree coffee the PCM turns to a liquid, sucking up a whole lot of heat (energy) from the coffee, cooling it to 140 degrees. Then, as the coffee cools, the PCM begins to release that energy , keeping the temperature right around 140. Eventually, enough energy is released, the PCM changes back to liquid and the magic essentially ends. This is the principle, the bean is an energy storage device. That said, I'm skeptical it can keep coffee hot for 5 hours, and I'm not totally sure that 140 degrees is hot enough to enjoy coffee... Coffee Joulies: Keep Your Coffee or Tea Hot For Hours |

Just a word of caution on tip #2, the effects of caffeine can last for a very long time for some people. I was recently having trouble sleeping and was told by a health professional not to ingest caffeine after noon. I switched my afternoon coffee to decaf tea, and I was sleeping like a baby within a couple days. I think the post makes a good point about the ritual, however. Just preparing a cup of tea can be energizing. Five Tips to Overcome an Office Afternoon Energy Slump |

Is this for real? Only 49% of people consider a cell phone a necessity? I'm curious who was polled for this survey? Or maybe people said things weren't a "necessity" even if they owned one...like "I could give up my _____, if I had to." Apartment Therapy Boston | Do You Really Need That? |
