Thank you so much for writing up these tips. You provided so many good thoughts and ideas to remember (easy too!). I'm very grateful for my home and the people living inside it with me, but sometimes I do lose sight of that. I've been frustrated with my living room makeover, so these tips could not have come at a better time...thanks AT!

I am totally going to incorporate "ciddyguy's" timer idea with my lamps! It would be so nice to come home to such a welcoming environment after work (maybe add in a small glass of wine). And plants, yes, I need plants in my life. -kyla @ http://houseofhipsters.com/

This is such a great tutorial. It looks super easy to build and best thing...it looks like a table you might have spent a lot of money on (I'm also crushing on the orange) I'm definitely going to be building one for my office in the near future. Bravo and thanks for sharing! kyla - @ http://houseofhipsters.com/

I love, love, love going to flea markets, but over the past 5-6 years, I have noticed a change in atmosphere — at least in the Chicagoland area. Last month, I saw women decked out in heels, fancy expensive clothing and a Louis Vuitton tote (to mshu's point)...if I was a vendor, I may not bargain with her...hopefully she got some deals though.

When I see other shoppers with crazy items, I do like to think of the fun ways in which they might use them. I'm not poking fun in any way, shape or form. I understand that something that may seem completely absurd to me might make another shopper swoon! It does make for a fun, imaginative game to pass the time. Plus, when people watching it's hard not to look at what others have purchased.

Has anyone else noticed that it is getting more and more difficult to find antiques or vintage items at the flea market? It seems like many vendors are selling a lot of tube socks, repro "vintage" signage and boxes, and other new items. Not that there is anything wrong with that — it just seems like there use to be a 20/80 split that changed to 50/50 for a while and now it seems more 80/20 (new items/vintage finds) -kyla @ http://houseofhipsters.com/

5 Things Not to Say (or Do) at the Flea Market

wow, i love everything and i mean everything about this home! i like that they brought the idea of the palette wall from the fireplace into the kitchen under the sink...the cement countertops and backsplash are just fantastic...it brings a modern touch into the more rugged look of the wood...and the antlers...OMG! i love the leafy plant woven in with the feathers. and that one reminds me of a bowling pin. and the vintage motorcycle helmet with the gator head and you listen to gangster rap? seriously, come over to my house, let's be best friends already! they should be so proud of what they have accomplished...fantastic homee! i love every inch of it! bravo! - kyla @ http://houseofhipsters.com/

we chose to sell 4 years ago and bought a larger home. at the time, we saw our existing property value dropping rapidly, but found a new home that would have been out of our reach a couple years before actually become obtainable. since we purchased our original home before the height of the market, we were fortunate enough to not lose to much on the home we were selling. we just had our first baby and were planning to have another. our small townhome was busting at the seams. we also started to see new buyers moving into our development causing the property to change for the worse. it was a very scary decision at the time, but relieved at the outcome. we couldn't be happier. kyla @ http://houseofhipsters.com/
