Can I add my 2 cents to this? Look for the better diagonal in the pineapple. If you choose the wrong diagonal, the eyes won't be aligned properly and this one creates a steeper angle. The diagonal that creates the lower angle and curves all the way around the pineapple is the best one; the eyes will be properly aligned (advice from my Dad who is a fruit-seller in Mauritius). That's how we cut pineapples in Mauritius too.

That brick wall is awesome. But I would probably have used it to separate the kitchen and the living room. I'd prefer to have more privacy for the bedroom but then if you're never gonna have guests staying over, then I suppose it's alright. I am just thinking that the cleaning of dust from each of these bricks would be time consuming. The effect is superb though.

I keep miso paste (the ones that can keep well in the jar out of the fridge), dried rice noodles (they only need soaking in hot water for about 20 minutes (which I do prior to lunch time), dried seaweed, these 2 together makes a good rice noodle miso soup. Then I also keep porridge oats (they make a good lunch as well as breakfast), dried and fresh fruits.

I guess the other side of the drawer wouldn't have the U-shape. So she probably just flipped the drawers around.
