I only allow people to stay for the weekend, no more than 4 days tops. This includes my relatives also. Before you shun me for writing that: We had guests from Wales for a month, I'd had never met such pigs. One spat in the sink constantly (double ewww), didn't flush (triple ewwww) and would use their fingers (yes!!!) to pick up food and they left dishes and glasses in the bedroom even after I told them about the dishwasher. (I actually bought another pair of gloves to clean with while they were here.) When they asked if I could wash their clothes, I drew the line. I showed them how to use the w/d. I think of myself as a mellow person, with a slew of patience but, they were too much and they were here too long. And they took ALL the toiletries I left in a basket. Finally, there were no thank yous either. Now if someone wants to stay longer, I suggest hotels in the area.

Heather AB: If you look at the mat upside down, it says "go away".

And it's not nasty, it's rather entertaining. Where can I get that MAT????

The dryer is my best friend - all pillows, blankets and duvets. With a thick layer of pollen on my car, can't imagine how it would be on pillows. I have enough issues with allergies.

I did the whole picture thing with my shoes and boots. And it is really great - the problem, as mentioned in a prior post by spaceagemouse, is opening from the top. Since, I have too many shoe bins, I'm not starting over. This would be an expensive endeavor, so I will suffer silently.

We're moving soon and I dumped all my mags in the recycle bin...(2 minutes later someone was rifling through them and taking the ones they wanted). I also had my husband do the same w/ his photography mags - didn't work as well as I wanted but came up w/ a solution. The magazine filers I had (I had about 15 of them), I gave 1/2 to him. Now it's the only place he can put the new ones. Once these fill up, he has to sparse out. Of course, I kept 4 mag filers for myself...let's not get crazy. My "real" problems are the books. I actually re-read them. We packed 4 huge boxes of books, sold them to some shop in Eastern CT - we could either take the $ or hold onto the receipt for purchasing future books. If I were alone, I would have held on to the receipt. My husband told me it was easier to let it go. And he was right, cause we have 5 more bookcases to go through.

I'm so in my element when packing! I love it!!! I have tons of those plastic bins you can get at target or the home depot. I do it room by room. Each bin is labeled with contents and which room it will go in next. When the dressers are empty, I mark the bottom of each drawer to make sure it all goes back in the same place. Then I leave one bin empty for moving day - to store all the stuff we needed that morning and for that evening. My husband usually scoffs at me for having so many but, yet he's happy when everything is so organized. Makes the movers happy too! Happy movers make less mistakes! ;)

OK so I cleaned the stairs and re-freshed them (Bona - great product by the way), all by hand. Then I told everyone NO SHOES in the house anymore. First time around, my husband "slipped" down the stairs. I told him next time wear slippers. Needless to say, He wasn't amused. These would be handy cause I was wearing socks and almost slipped.

Fern is the one, mentioned in a prior post, that carries this particular decal. The woman who operates it, Christine, is very helpful. I only know this cause I called regarding their wallpaper.

Lady J -

I would first contact restaurants where you would consider eating about the menu. (At least 4 restaurants). See what they offer by way of having such a larger party. They may give you a deal. As for dessert, they may include that in the contract. This way you could gauge how much you should budget. And it really is fine to serve just wine and something non-alcoholic. Don't worry about mixed drinks if you just inform everyone "I have wine!!!". Is it a b-day party???

Now for the stupid question of the day, I want to bake a cake, from a mix. It says use vegetable oil - can I use olive oil instead? If not, what alternatives could I consider? Thanks.
