I SO wish I could do this but our landlord wouldn't let us bring in a washer/dryer. Being the sneaky person I am, I did bring in a portable washer though.

Interesting about the peanut butter. One of my friends went on an international trip and came back with some *ahem* illegal substances hidden inside a jar of peanut butter. Makes me wonder how he was able to get that through security.

Our last apartment had very thin, poorly insulated floors and ceilings. The gentleman who lived upstairs was quiet and respectful, but the family downstairs caused a lot of problems for us. Almost every day over the summer the whole family would invite lots of people over and they'd all hang out on the front porch and listen to loud music. Only their radio was inside the apartment, and they'd crank the bass waaaaaaaay up so it could be heard down the block. It was really unpleasant to live right above them, and I'm a stay-at-home mom with an infant son. And they would only play their music during the day. Not at night, so police would not be able to do anything about it.

One day I approached the lady who lived downstairs and asked kindly if the music, or the bass could be turned down and she called me a racist. She said my baby needed to get used to noise and that we were breaking their light bulbs... what???

After that interaction I felt there was no way to make this living situation any more tolerable. I'd written a formal letter of complaint to the landlord and nothing was done, and the family downstairs continued to be excessively loud. We ended up moving and so far so good with the new neighbors, and we're so much happier now!

Mario Kart is a definite favorite for us! Boom Blox is one of our favorite party games, we play it a lot when we have friends over.
Oh, and Guitar Hero is always a favorite too!

I'm lucky that I haven't gone overboard buying toys and things for my kitty Ali only to find out that she doesn't like them. I did buy a little kitty playhouse thing for her that had some dangling toys and a scratching post. She played with the dangly toys more as a kitten, didn't care for the scratching post. She still does like lounging around on top of the thing though. And one of the toys, a ball- came off. She loves playing fetch with it.

Ali loves playing fetch. She loves her fuzzy mouse toys and any jangly ball, especially those with holes in them so she can pick them up and carry them easily in her mouth. Also the jangly balls made me aware of just how active she is at night- it's especially noticeable with hardwood floors! I used to go through the apartment looking for all of her noisy toys and I'd hide them from her at night. She also discovered that if she put a ball in the bathtub, she could bat it around and the curved surface of the tub would really make it move.

Also she has responded well to dangling wand toys. For awhile we had just a simple piece of rope that was frayed on the end and that was totally fun to her.

I wish I could keep more houseplants, but Ali does not allow it. She thinks they are all toys for her and about twice a week I come home to some plant of mine dragged across the room or knocked off a windowsill. I do have to make sure anytime I get a plant it's not toxic to kitties, because I know it will be chewed on and played with.

In the apartment I just moved into, I opened up the dishwasher, and horror of horrors! The smell! It was clear that whoever lived there previously never cleaned it.

I think it looks nice, but it looks like it would probably would take up a lot of precious counter space. But I can imagine it would be great for other applications besides just in the kitchen.

My most-used utensils are stored in antique blue mason jars on my counter.

There are pawpaw trees in the woods at my parents' house. We've picked the fruit before, but not at the right time because they never ripened.

I think next time I go back there I will look for some!
