Can someone please trouble-shoot for me:

I have tried Hefty and Ziploc brand freezer bags, with a variety of foods, and always find that the food tastes like... freezer. I thought this was just due to my old freezer, but now I have moved, I am still getting the same icky taste.

Suggestions?

Staggered is surprisingly more soothing to look at (I would have thought straight would be).

Purchasing second-hand furniture while sick with a cold is a big no-no. I ended up with a lovely dresser that I could never use, because it was so permeated with the smell of smoke.

Just make sure that your DIY vent fan cover is open enough to allow proper air flow, so you don't strain the motor.

This is actually really useful... There is a dearth of wooden spoons in my town. Seriously, no where carries them anymore!

The parchment paper idea is a great one. I typically just use a mix of cornmeal and flour on a towel, and the bread pulls right off. I am going to try parchment next time!

Is it just me, or does that base look cheap in comparison? Couldn't they have gone for something a bit more upscale (particularly for the price of the table)!

Nice try, Skynet.

I know I have an unpopular opinion, but I really like the fact that the widths will all be the same. That was a big no-go for me when considering the Expedit in the first place. Now if their white will actually be true white, I might swoon!

Honestly, I never use the milk product specified in recipes. Buttermilk. half-and-half, and heavy cream go interchangeably into whatever I'm making.

When I was at Ikea in early January (DC area), the floor staff informed me that that they were discontinuing the Expedit, so I would say, yes, this affects US customers too.

This all depends on context; if you are saying "no spending on kids", then there should also be an equally strict "no spending on parents" rule, too. Telling your kid you are not going to buy them something because you're not spending money on them is questionable at best; children are sensitive, and without careful guidance, this could easily backfire as the child grows up.

Nope, not going to work. Popcorn "pops" because the water inside the kernel is converted to steam, and the steam causes the kernel to turn inside out. Water in the pan will also convert to steam, and this means you will have kernels sitting on a hot, mostly dry pan. Some will just burn, fewer will pop, and you will be left with a mess on your hands.

A suggestion for tri-color quinoa that turns to mush: add in a pat of butter and a drizzle of maple syrup; it makes a delicious, nutritious oatmeal substitute!
