I'm not living in my first apartment, just my first one alone, for the past 4 years, and I have made some good and bad decisions, and leaned some ugly truths. I feel the bad decisions were purely for aesthetics (it's got to be pretty!), and not really thinking about practical use. I think a lot of folks have this problem... I've had a Pendleton for 5+ years now, and i LOVE it. It covers my robin's egg blue sofa from my dog's naps. It totally worth the cash you'll lay down, cause it only gets better with age. Rugged, Gorgeous Woolen Blankets Inspiration Gallery |

I use a Mr Coffee Mug Activated Warmer at work. It shuts off automatically after sometime, but keeps my tea warm as I drink it all day. I've had the same one for almost 8 years. Coffee Joulies: Keep Your Coffee or Tea Hot For Hours |

I have two pieces by her that I bought at an open studio. They are small test strips, but I love them and her work. It's so nice to see her working with fabrics and other mixed media. Truly captures a spirit of SF! San Francisco Artist: Hilary Williams |

@JustBekky: Yes, resorting. I don't know about you, but things get broken in my pad, and some of the vintage options are expensive. They are fine for special occasions, but not my casual cocktail party. Welcoming Guests with an Aperitif |

I adore this idea, but I have to say, finding small martini glasses is difficult without resorting to vintage. Does anyone know of a good place to buy reasonably-priced stemware that I don't have to hold with two hands? Welcoming Guests with an Aperitif |

I love this apartment. I've seen it in person, and all I can say is MORE, MORE, MORE! Really, these few images don't do it justice. The amount of time and energy in that kitchen just blows me away. It's truly genius. And what Christopher can do with a Christmas tree is out of this world. Christopher's "el Corazon" Mission Flat House Call |

I think the rhino bust, cause it does tell a bit of a story. I like the JA lamp as well, or the hippo mat. The elephants read as a little too Southeast Asian tchotchke for me, and the hearts in the giraffes' booties unnerve me. Go on Safari, Close to Home |

I 3rd Sal Beressi Fabrics. My upholster found the perfect robin's egg blue fabric to recover my mid-century modern sofa, and it was inexpensive. The whole 96" sofa cost less than $1600 to have it reupholstered. I've had it for almost 2 years and it still looks fabulous! Good Source for Upholstery Fabric in San Francisco? Good Questions |

Under my claw foot tub. I just did a major cleaning, and realized I really needed to get on my hands and knees to scrub under it. It was wrong and scary under there. 5 Places We Forget To Clean That Come Back To Haunt Us | Apartment Therapy Re-Nest |

I would recommend Books and Bookshelves in San Francisco (http://www.booksandbookshelves.com/). I couldn't find them on their website, but they do custom work and have great wood boxes for $22. I believe they can make them without backs on request. I think they have a better finish than the ones on Amazon. Crates to Use in a DIY Shelving Project? I think it looks great. I love the idea and think the creepiness is part of the appeal. I have some jars I've been saving and will look for the right objects to put in them. Thanks for the inspiration. Flickr Find: Toy Terrariums | Apartment Therapy San Francisco |
